Marlins writer Juan C Rodriguez dies from brain cancer
Juan C Rodriguez, a writer who covered the Miami Marlins for the South Florida Sun Sentinel, died on Monday after losing his battle with brain cancer.
Rodriguez leaves behind a wife and two children. His family set up a crowdfunding page on the net to ask for some financial support as they battled the mounting costs associated with fighting the cancer. On the page, Rodriguez’s wife explained what Juan had gone through.
Rodriguez collapsed in Dec. 2012 and was found to have a malignant tumor. He underwent surgery to remove the tumor, then received chemotherapy. He had two more tumors and surgeries to remove both of them, and he had four more surgeries after that.
The Marlins were among those to share their condolences over Twitter.
We are saddened by the loss of Sun Sentinel Marlins beat writer Juan C Rodriguez. Our deepest condolences go out to Juan's family & friends.
