Did someone in Chris Weidman’s corner say ‘good, f— him’ after Anderson Silva broke leg? (Video)
A video that’s starting to make the rounds on the ‘net seems to show that someone in Chris Weidman’s corner said “good, f— him” after Anderson Silva broke his leg in the second round of the fight between the two at UFC 168 on Saturday.
Weidman seemed to win the first round of the fight and was up in the second when he checked a kick from Silva that resulted in Silva snapping his tibia and fibula. The broken leg led to Weidman winning by second-round TKO.
I listened to the audio several times and it sure sounds like that’s what someone said. Certainly the tone in which it was barked didn’t sound positive.
Though this video will likely come across as Weidman’s team being extremely disrespectful towards Silva, I’m going to give them a break on this. When you’re in the moment and in a heated fight like that, I think that’s almost a natural reaction. Heck, you saw Weidman running around the octagon in celebration until he realized how badly Silva was hurt. He stopped celebrating at that point and then showed some compassion for his opponent.
Bloody Elbow also notes that Weidman could be heard calling Silva a “disrespectful piece of s—” after beating him at UFC 162. Keep in mind that Silva was extremely disrespectful towards Weidman during the fight and actually lost because he was showboating and left himself open.
I think this video is going to make the people in Weidman’s corner look a lot worse than they are.
