Conor McGregor denies breaking foot during Nate Diaz fight

Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor denied initial reports that he had broken his foot during his bout with Nate Diaz, confirming only that his shin was quite beaten up.

Immediately after the fight, it was said that McGregor’s foot was broken, presumably a result of a number of leg kicks he delivered. However, when speaking to the media, McGregor said that his foot was fine, his shin was simply in poor shape.

“My shin. I kicked his knee about 40 times and it’s hurting me,” McGregor said, via Damon Martin of Fox Sports. “That’s it, just my shin, everything else is good. My ankle was actually a bit banged up coming into the fight. We were practicing leg kicks in camp so it was a little bit swollen coming in but it’s the shin.

“I kicked his knee clean, I think it was in the first round and then I just kept kicking so I’m feeling it now, but other than that I am perfect.”

McGregor did need crutches after the fight, but maintained that he was by and large alright after defeating Diaz in an epic five-round bout.
