Ronda Rousey upset with media’s portrayal of her Michael Phelps comments (Video)

Ronda Rousey used her big mouth and devastating arm bars to become one of the most well-known female fighters in the country, but now she’s upset with the media for making her look bad and she’s trying to clarify her views.

Rousey gave an interview to MMA Today where she talked about her controversial Kim Kardashian and Michael Phelps comments that received so much attention. Rousey says she was answering questions honestly when she ripped both people, and she’s disappointed the media only focuses on the negative aspects of her comments.

“I can say 15 nice things about 15 people and say one thing is kind of annoying, and people will forget about everything else I said that was cool and zone in on the one thing,” Rousey complained.

“I don’t have any control over any of it. The way that it looks is the way people want it to look. I have something to do with it but it’s not all me,” Rousey said. “I have to accept that a lot of these things are out of my control.

“You just have to accept you’re misunderstood and not take it too personally.”

Yes, that’s Ronda Rousey, who’s made a living off being outspoken now saying she’s “misunderstood.”

“I don’t want to feel like I have to constantly be on guard and thinking about every single word that comes out of my mouth because every single sentence I say is scrutinized,” Rousey is realizing.

There is no doubt that Rousey makes some valid observations about the media. But she really can’t be too mad that the media has blown up some of her statements when this is the sort of attention she’s been begging for.

Rousey made it known last year that she wanted to the face of female MMA. She talked her way into a fight with Miesha Tate even though she only had limited experience, and she received plenty of attention for blowing people up on Twitter. Rousey is a loose cannon by design; she didn’t amass over 92k followers on Twitter by sitting there quietly hoping that people would notice her. I think the attention just came a little too fast too furious for her and she couldn’t handle all of it. She essentially admitted that.

“I’m not any more opinionated than I used to be. Every single thing is being dissected more,” she opined.

Rousey did everything possible to get noticed, but now she’s struggling with having too much attention. She’s making some adjustments and wants to be cut a break. It won’t come easily in this business, especially when the media plays such a large role in helping her make a living.
