Ronda Rousey to star in film based on her autobiography

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey has officially reached mega-star levels.

The undefeated UFC women’s bantamweight champion is set to star in a movie based on her autobiography, “My Fight/Your Fight.”

Rousey’s book was released in May and has been a top seller (you can order it here). Releasing the book was just one step in a big plan for Rousey, who also sold the film rights to Paramount Pictures.

Variety reports that Mark Bomback will adapt the film and executive produce it. Rousey and Mary Parent will also be producers.

Rousey has made no secret about her long-term plans to cross over into the film industry. She appeared in “The Expendables 3,” “Fast & Furious 7,” and the “Entourage” movie over the past year. She said last year that she aspires to be the highest grossing actor in the movie business. Besides her plans to star in a movie about herself, she also is set to act in “Mile 22” next year, and she is attached to Warner Bros. action pic “The Athena Project.”

Given all of her big acting plans, the UFC is looking to capitalize on Rousey’s fame by having her fight as many times as possible before she leaves the fight business. Rousey knows there is no point to competing in physical combat if she doesn’t have to. Why put her body through that when she can make an even better living in movies? It looks like she is well on her way towards establishing that second career.
