Shogun Rua whiffs in Ovince St. Preux fight, gets knocked out (Video)
It only took 34 seconds for Ovince St. Preux to defeat Shogun Rua on Saturday night, and the fight probably would have lasted longer if Rua didn’t go for the knockout right away.
Shortly after the fight began, Rua threw a huge right hook that St. Preux was able to sidestep with relative ease. The whiff caused Shogun to lose his balance, and St. Preux jumped on him and starting pounding away.
“Shogun comes in with looping punches and I’m pretty good at counter punches,” St. Preux said after the victory at UFC Fight Night in Brazil. “I did a real good step off. … I used that and it ended up landing real good.”
Saturday marked the second time in two fights that Shogun was knocked out. Dan Henderson knocked him out with a massive punch in the third round back in March.
