TUF Sabah Homasi Carrington Banks

Try as they may, but American Top Team still has not been able to get it done in the Octagon against the Blackzilians. Episode 4 of season 21 of “The Ultimate Fighter” featured one of the closest fights yet as well as one of the most concerning events.

Down 75-0 to the Blackzilians after losing their first three fights (the first four fights are worth 25 points apiece), American Top Team looked to have Creepy Steve Montgomery fight in their fourth bout. However, Creepy Steve had a serious medical issue while trying to cut weight. He drank so much water that he diluted all the sodium in his body and ended up having a seizure. It was a scary scene at the South Florida home shared by the two teams and an ambulance was called to rescue the fighter. Luckily he was fine in the end, but ATT had to come up with a new fighter. They chose Sabah Homasi, who faced Carrington Banks in one of the closest fights yet.

Banks received a decision over Homasi after the fight went three rounds because the first two were so close. Banks is a wrestler and attempted to take down Homasi several times throughout the fight, but most of his efforts were unsuccessful. However, he did control the action and had Homasi pinned against the cage multiple times, especially throughout the first round.

Though Banks never got a full takedown in the first round, he controlled most of the action and did more damage, so he probably won that round by a slight margin.

The second round started with the two dancing around and exchanging some strikes. The dancing around probably was familiar for Homasi, who works nights as a “male entertainer” for females, as he says. Banks’ takedown attempts were mostly unsuccessful, so the close round probably went to Homasi, leading to them being asked to fight a deciding third round.

The third round was also really close, but it seemed like Banks landed a few more strikes than Homasi. At the end, the referee raised his hand in victory, leaving Homasi upset and in disbelief.

“Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?” Homasi kept saying from inside his locker room after the defeat.

Meanwhile, after helping his team go up 100-0 in the competition, Banks was satisfied.

“I felt like I kept the momentum going for my team,” he said after the fight. “Getting that victory and that energy. It was a big weight off my shoulder. It was a tough fight and Sabah brought everything he had, so I got mad respect for him.”

Though they are down 100-0 and have lost all four fights thus far, ATT at least said they were not disappointed with Homasi’s effort and performance, nor should they be.

I felt like the fight was close enough to be called a draw, but if they were going to award it to one fighter over the other, I thought Banks was the slight winner. After all, looking at Homasi’s face at the end of the fight shows he did take quite a few strikes to the face.

As for Creepy Steve, the good news is he is doing well.

“I’m actually 100-percent healthy and healthier than I ever thought before,” he said in an interview with Karyn Bryant on “TUF Talk.”
