NFL Picks Week 12 against the spread – Del’s picks

Unfortunately, Del has run out of commentary to go along with his pathetic picks for the 2013 season. 4-8-3 against the spread last week. 0-2-2 with the locks of the week. It’s getting worse when it desperately needed to get better.

You know the drill. Here are Del’s Week 12 NFL Picks, for those of you who are optimistic and think things have to turn around at some point. Analysis of the top three selections is below the chart. Check back later in the week for Doc Brown’s picks.

NFL-Picks-Week-12

Del’s operating purely on gut instinct this week for his top three selections, since nothing else seems to work. For starters, I’m taking Detroit laying nine points against the Bucs at home. That may sound like a lot, but the Lions will be happy to return home to their turf field after losing a physical game against the Steelers last week. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, may have some people fooled by beating a Dolphins team that was in disarray in Week 10 and a horrendous Falcons team last week. I’m not buying into Greg Schiano’s recent success and would be surprised if this game is close.

Next, I’m taking the Colts getting two points in Arizona. Indianapolis has had more than a week to prepare for the Cardinals after pulling out a fantastic comeback win on the road against the Titans last Thursday. I should probably start taking the Cardinals seriously, but if I’ve learned one thing from this horrendous season of picks it’s that you can’t rely on last week to pick this week’s games. I simply think Indy is the better team, so I’m taking the two points and hoping they win outright.

Finally, I’m buying into the recent surge by the Giants. How many times have we seen this from the G-Men? New York started the season 0-6 and is somehow very much in the playoff hunt with the NFC East being wide open. If this game were in Dallas, I’d take the Cowboys. Since it’s being played in New Jersey, I think the Giants will continue to build momentum and their defense will keep improving. My gut (there’s that gut again) tells me the G-Men can keep rolling.
