Cristiano Ronaldo dismisses reports of discontent with Real Madrid

Portugese soccer immortal Cristiano Ronaldo is perfectly happy at Real Madrid, thank you very much.

The 30-year-old superstar ended his months-long media silence on Saturday to quash rumors of his supposed discontent with the Spanish club. Speaking with Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the forward set the record straight on where things currently stand between him and Real Madrid.

“I would sincerely like the false reports to stop and to be left a little in peace,” Ronaldo told A Bola, via The Guardian.

“Reports that I have sought to create conflicts between myself and Real Madrid are absolutely false.

“I am very happy at the best club in the world and very focused and confident of a new season full of successes. I repeat again that I’m at the best club in the world and at the best club in the word I want to get back to winning.”

Ronaldo endured a tumultuous season in Madrid that ended without the Spanish powerhouse taking home a major trophy, losing the La Liga title to rivals FC Barcelona and being eliminated in the UEFA Champions League semifinals by Juventus.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, whom Ronaldo publicly voiced his support for on many occasions, was sacked unceremoniously in May and hastily replaced by former Napoli manager Rafael Benitez, giving momentum to rumors of a growing rift between Ronaldo and club president Florentino Perez.

Questions about Ronaldo’s ability to play alongside Welsh winger Gareth Bale were also raised over the course of the season and with Ronaldo’s former club, Manchester United, in hot pursuit of CR7 teammate and close friend, defender Sergio Ramos, transfer rumblings were starting to come to a boiling point.

Thankfully though, this should put an end to all the baseless speculation, and Ronaldo can get back to doing what he does best: spinning circles around perplexed defenders all over Europe as Real Madrid looks to return to the glory and the supremacy that we have come to expect from them.
