Ghana gives up own goal against Portugal (Video)

Ghana-own-goalPortugal took a 1-0 lead against a depleted Ghana team in the first half of Thursday’s match on a botched clearance. A Ghanian player was attempting to clear a well-placed cross when the ball deflected the wrong way off his foot and into his own net.

The early goal helped the United States, as the US can still advance to the knockout stage even with a loss against Germany if Portugal happens to defeat Ghana by a small margin.

Ghana, who was playing without two of its better players after their respective suspensions, gave up the second own goal of the World Cup. Marcelo gave up the first for Brazil.
