Steven Gerrard scores in Galaxy debut wearing Liverpool shinpads (Video)
Longtime Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard made his much-awaited MLS debut for the Los Angeles Galaxy on Friday and it was an eventful one.
The English football legend found the back of the net in the 37th minute off the counter-attack after a nifty cross by Baggio Husidic and a backheel assist from Sebastian Lletget.
Here is an epic slow-motion angle of Gerrard’s goal:

The 35-year-old’s strike equalized at 2-2, and he would go onto record an assist on a Robbie Keane goal in the 64th minute as the Galaxy topped the San Jose Earthquakes by the final of 5-2.
Gerrard made certain not to forget his Liverpudlian roots either as he was spotted wearing the shinpads of the Reds during the match.

The midfielder made his debut for Liverpool in 1998 and spent 17 seasons there, so needless to say, his loyalty to his Anfield brethren still runs deep.
Gerrard is now out to challenge the notion that the MLS is where washed-up former Euro superstars go for their careers to die, and he’s already off to a great start.
