Jason Dufner puts his new dog in the PGA Championship trophy

Jason-Dufner-puppy-Wanamaker-Trophy

Jason Dufner won the PGA Championship on Sunday and then went out and bought himself a puppy. And what do you do with a massive major championship trophy and a new puppy? You combine the two, of course.

“The two newest additions to the Dufner household,” the 36-year-old tweeted on Wednesday along with the photo you see above. “I am a lucky man!”

We already knew Dufner was a lucky man when we were introduced to his lovely wife on Sunday, but a new puppy just adds to the joy. Now, the question is will Dufner sleep with the Wanamaker Trophy beside him while while the dog sleeps in the trophy? That would be the only logical way to enjoy his new additions.

Kid dances like ‘The Wiz’ behind David Feherty during PGA Championship

During the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday, a young kid decided to goof off behind the Golf Channel’s broadcast when analyst David Feherty was breaking down the field. We see fans dance behind television cameras all the time, but “Seinfeld” people like me might find this instance of it particularly entertaining.

I’m sure it wasn’t intentional since the kid was so young, but for some reason I immediately thought of “The Wiz” when I saw him strutting around.

“I’m the Wiz! I’m the Wiz! And nobody beats me.”

You know what I’m talking about. And if not, here’s a clip that might jog your memory.

This kid could score a date with Elaine with very little effort.

Jason Dufner holes out for eagle at the PGA Championship (Video)

Jason-Dufner-eagleAfter shooting an opening-round round 68 at Oak Hill on Thursday, Jason Dufner got off to a hot start in the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday. The 2011 PGA Championship runner up spun a ball perfectly at the 2nd hole and holed out for eagle.

Players were able to post some incredible numbers in the second round with course conditions playing favorably after a morning filled with rain. Dufner took advantage by going right at a number of flags, one of which led to his eagle and has him in the hunt heading into the weekend. Unlike the other three majors this season, the PGA Championship should see low scores across the leaderboard into Sunday.

Phil Mickelson almost forgot to register for PGA Championship, showed up in flip-flops

Phil

Phil-Mickelson-Claret-JugPhil Mickelson is looking to win back-to-back major championships for the first time in his career at Oak Hill this week, but the 2013 British Open winner nearly cost himself the opportunity with forgetfulness. According to the Golf Channel, Lefty signed up for the PGA Championship at the last second on Wednesday.

Players are required to register for PGA tournaments up to a day before the opening round. Mickelson chose not to play a practice round at Oak Hill on Wednesday, which resulted in the registration nearly slipping his mind. He strolled into the clubhouse with a hop in his step and wearing flip-flops at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Is that proper golf attire? Since Mickelson wasn’t heading out onto the course and he’s, well, Phil Mickelson, I’m sure nobody gave him any grief.

Believe it or not, Mickelson’s flub is not unprecedented among professional golfers. Last year, Rory McIlroy nearly missed his Ryder Cup tee time after he showed up late and had to rush to the first tee. McIlroy also overslept before the final round of the PGA Championship last year and then went on to win, so this could be good luck for Phil. As long as you avoid pulling a Jim Furyk, there’s no harm done.
