AJ-McCarron-drugs-hat

AJ McCarron came under a little fire over the weekend after he spent some time hanging out with a rapper who goes by the name Waka Flocka Flame. McCarron sent out a number of tweets saying how he was hanging out with Flocka and asking people to follow him. He also tweeted a photo of himself wearing the hat you see above, which McCarron thanked the Brick Squad Monopoly family (Flocka’s crew) for giving him.

When several followers began criticizing McCarron for wearing a hat that says “drugs” on it, he explained that the hats stand for a good cause. Apparently in this case DRUGS is an acronym for “Do Right U Gain Success.” That still doesn’t make it look right when a scholarship athlete has it on his head.

McCarron also tweeted a photo of himself alongside Flocka with the rapper wearing his championship ring and flipping the bird with it.

Katherine-Webb-AJ-McCarronEver since Brent Musburger drooled over her on national television during the BCS National Championship game, Katherine Webb has been a celebrity. Her new-found fame has led to appearances in publications like Sports Illustrated and on reality TV shows like ABC’s “Splash.” As a result, she has had to learn how to deal with the media.

Luckily, Webb’s boyfriend AJ McCarron has already been there. Considering he plays for arguably the most popular football program in the nation, the Alabama quarterback knows a thing or two about having microphones in your face and cameras following you around.

“She’s been asking me for advice the whole time,” McCarron told ESPN.com’s Chris Low. “Even though she was Miss Alabama and all that, she had never been through any of the paparazzi deal, and it all came at her at once so fast.

“She’s still learning how to handle everything and will text me or call me for advice. I just have to tell her, ‘Listen, I’ve been going through this for three years almost.’ I do my best to help her every way I can.”

Something tells me it could be the other way around before long. As for Musburger, we already know the ESPN announcer doesn’t think he did anything wrong with what he said about Webb on the air. Webb even said herself that she appreciates what he has done for her career, and McCarron seems to share that opinion.

“He didn’t say anything out of line, and he told me they were going to show her,” McCarron said. “I told him where they would be sitting earlier that week at practice. He helped boost her career, which is awesome.”

For all that’s been said about the 73-year-old acting out of line by talking about how beautiful Webb is, he has made her into a very rich and successful young woman. If Musburger hadn’t said what he did about Webb, McCarron wouldn’t be giving her tips on how to handle fame. That’s just the way it goes in America.

AJ McCarron boot car

Thanks to his success as a national championship-winning quarterback for Alabama and his relationship with America’s girlfriend, Katherine Webb, AJ McCarron’s day-to-day affairs have become a central focus for many sports fans. On Tuesday, one of his seemingly lesser moments was publicized.

A Reddit user named RollTide03 posted a picture to the popular social media site that showed McCarron’s SUV with a boot on it. The photo was funny for a number of reasons — star athletes usually get VIP treatment around college campuses — especially at a football crazy school like Bama, so to see McCarron’s get fitted for a boot was shocking. Also, people on the ‘net love laughing at the misfortune of others, so this photo was an automatic winner.

But it didn’t take long for McCarron to shoot down the story. The quarterback responded to someone over Twitter who asked him about the boot by saying it was a mistake that was quickly corrected.

“nope sure wasn’t parked illegally. They messed up the tickets. So I got that [censored] off right then. Haha sry to ruin Ur tweet,” he wrote.

McCarron then turned his aim toward the media for blowing up the story on what he suggested was a slow news day:

Yeah, it probably was a slow news day Tuesday, but, again, McCarron’s car getting a boot is pretty funny, even if the book was placed as a mistake. Then again, if Nick Saban’s car gets ticketed in Alabama, then McCarron’s probably would be too.

Darnell Dockett and AJ McCarron are not showing any signs of slowing down with their Twitter feud, and it is getting better by the day. Over the weekend, McCarron finally broke his silence about Dockett hitting on his girlfriend Katherine Webb by calling him “twitter thirsty.” On Monday, the Cardinals defensive tackle and Alabama quarterback continued hurling insults at one another.

The feud started back up again when Dockett called McCarron a “sissy” and challenged him to a boxing match. Rather than letting it go, McCarron took the bait once again.

Katherine-Webb-AJ-McCarronWhen Katherine Webb first gained national attention after she was shown on television during the BCS National Championship Game, Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett was one of the first people to hit on her. Dockett tweeted his phone number at Webb and then claimed it was supposed to be a direct message.

Last week, Dockett said he would be able to get Webb if he wanted her, but that she isn’t his type of girl. He said he is more into “hood chicks,” but that apparently hasn’t stopped him from flirting with the former Miss Alabama on Twitter. On Friday, Dockett gave Webb another shout-out.

It sounds like AJ McCarron has had enough of the 290-pounder hitting on his girlfriend. The Alabama quarterback called out Dockett with a pair of tweets on Friday night.

Katherine-Webb-AJ-McCarronKatherine Webb is familiar with what life is like in the public spotlight. As someone who was crowned Miss Alabama USA last year, she wasn’t exactly unknown before she became A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend. However, it sounds like the attention Webb is receiving in the wake of Alabama winning the national championship and ESPN’s broadcasters drooling over her has started to take its toll.

According to TMZ, Webb released a statement on Thursday confirming that she had canceled eight interviews but insisting it was not at the request of McCarron. Earlier in the day, there was speculation that the Alabama star was becoming upset that his girlfriend is receiving more attention than he is.

“I want it to be about me and him,” Webb said in the statement. “He’s a guy I can see myself having a real future with.”

Webb said she decided to cancel the interviews because she doesn’t want her relationship with McCarron being viewed as merely a “celebrity status” thing. Remember, Katherine claims she and A.J. met when they were tagged in a mutual tweet and insists she had no idea he was the quarterback of the best college football team in the country.

A report from the NY Post also says Webb has decided to change her phone number. Donald Trump, who knows Webb through their mutual connection with Miss Universe, said the calls have become too much for her.

“She was forced to change her phone number,” Trump reportedly said. “She was getting thousands and thousands of calls. Katherine has to stay grounded now that she’s become a big star.”

McCarron may have just led the Crimson Tide to its third national championship in four years, but Webb is the talk of the town. If A.J. is unable to get past NFL players hitting on his girlfriend and seeing her face on every tabloid magazine in the country, their relationship could be doomed.

Twitter has become an interesting storyline surrounding the relationship between beauty queen Katherine Webb and quarterback AJ McCarron. Webb’s following on the social media service exploded Monday night, leaving McCarron stunned. She was followed by LeBron James, and hit on by athletes like Aaron Murray and Darnell Dockett. But did you know that Twitter is also the way Webb and McCarron met?

Webb has conducted several interviews ever since her popularity exploded on Monday night thanks to ESPN making her a focus during the BCS National Championship Game. In an interview with Carol Robinson for AL.com, Webb shared the story of how her relationship with McCarron developed, and she revealed that it all began over the social media network.

Webb told Robinson that the two first connected when they were tagged in a tweet by a mutual friend. Webb, who was Miss Alabama USA in 2012, says she did not know who McCarron was at the time.

“I had no idea who AJ was. But I thought he was cute,” Webb told AL.com.

McCarron started following Webb on Twitter, and she followed him back. The two exchanged phone numbers and began to text. Webb then watched McCarron play in the SEC Championship Game, and they met the following weekend when he showed up to a beauty pageant where she gave up her Miss Alabama crown.

“It was kind of cool,” Webb said. “I didn’t know he was coming until about an hour before. The first time I ever saw him, I was walking out on stage and he was on the front row. I was like, ‘Oh Lord.’”

Things moved quickly from that point on. Webb attended McCarron’s graduation in Tuscaloosa the following weekend where she met his family. He met her family the next weekend over Christmas break, which is when the first photo of the two was taken.

Webb is so serious about the relationship she says she is willing to move from Los Angeles, where she was pursuing a modeling career, back to Alabama to be with McCarron.

Though Webb didn’t mind the attention she received from ESPN announcer Brent Musburger and actually defended him, she is bothered by the people hitting on her and not respecting her relationship with McCarron.

“I’ve been getting weird tweets from guys since the game,” she told AL.com. “I really want to tweet back and say, ‘Why are you tweeting me? Don’t you know I am in a relationship?’”

Yes, I’m pretty sure that message was for you, Darnell Dockett.
