aj mccarronAJ McCarron had a reaction for the ages when informed about his girlfriend’s newfound fame after the BCS National Championship Game ended.

The Alabama quarterback’s eyes popped open and his mouth dropped when he was told Katherine Webb gained over 100,000 Twitter followers Monday night.

“No way,” a dumbfounded McCarron said.

McCarron was frozen when told that LeBron James began following Webb.

“Say you swear,” McCarron told Outkick the Coverage’s Clay Travis.

Travis told him he swore it was true (LeBron later unfollowed her), and that’s when McCarron said he wanted to get a follow from James too.

McCarron’s reaction gives a perfect visual representation of how crazy the entire sequence of events surrounding the evening were.

AJ McCarron played the game of his life to help Alabama crush Notre Dame 42-14 to win its second straight national championship and third in four years, but somehow it was his girlfriend, Katherine Webb, who stole the show on Monday night.

The Internet was first introduced to Webb around Christmas when she tweeted a photo of herself and McCarron together for the holiday. The photo sparked speculation that the two were dating. McCarron later confirmed to the media that Webb was his girlfriend, and it wasn’t long before we found out a few details about the young lady.

Webb graduated from rival school Auburn in 2011. She was crowned Miss Alabama USA a year later.

Webb headed to Miami to support her boyfriend during the BCS National Championship Game, but she had no clue what awaited her on Monday night.

With just over four minutes left in the first quarter and Alabama up 14-0, ESPN flashed to a shot of Webb in the stands along with McCarron’s mother, Dee Dee Bonner. All it took was 30 seconds on camera for Webb’s life to permanently change.

ESPN announcers Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit began drooling over the beauty queen:

Alabama was up 42-14 in the fourth quarter of the BCS National Championship Game against Notre Dame, but that doesn’t mean they were satisfied.

Quarterback A.J. McCarron and center Barrett Jones had a miscommunication on a second-and-six situation and ended up taking a delay of game penalty. McCarron was stomping around trying to get Jones to snap him the ball, but the center never hiked it. A steamed McCarron tried to take a timeout, and he was shoved in the chest by Jones.

The two Bama players, who are roommates, remained in each others’ faces for a few seconds before breaking it up.

Someone should have reminded them they were up 42-14 at that point. That was easily the hardest hit McCarron took on the night.

Up 42-14 with six minutes left and they’re still playing like the game is on the line? Who says this team doesn’t take on the characteristics of Nick Saban?

According to ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi, this sort of thing isn’t unusual for Alabama. Apparently McCarron and Jones get into it frequently during practice and other situations. The root is both players trying to direct the offense and call plays at the same time, and both players thinking they know more than the other.

The two later made up by the team’s bench and were seen sharing a hug with a few minutes left in the game:

A.J. McCarron confirmed in the last few days that Katherine Webb is his girlfriend, making him exactly what we figured — one of the luckiest guys around.

Word emerged a few weeks ago that the two appeared to be dating. Most of the hints came from Webb’s Twitter account. The Auburn graduate and Miss Alabama even talked about trading in the Tigers for the Crimson Tide. The two spent time together over the holidays, and McCarron even fielded a few questions about her during media days before the BCS National Championship Game.

“I’m definitely blessed to have that opportunity,” McCarron said. “She’s a great girl.”

McCarron found it odd that his personal life had become public information.

“It’s a little insane for me just because it’s a relationship, but it’s the way the media is today, I guess.”

Yup, that’s the way it is these days, especially when you’re openly tweeting about everything and giving clues to the whole world. The good news for him is that a hot girl actually found his chest tattoo bearable. Here’s a look at the AJ McCarron tattoo that has everyone talking, in case you haven’t seen it.

Below is a photo of AJ McCarron and girlfriend Katherine Webb together:

Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron seems to be doing quite well for himself. Not only does he have the Crimson Tide in the BCS National Championship Game, but he also seems to have snagged a lovely lady in the meantime.

McCarron appears to be dating a young woman named Katherine Webb, who was Miss Alabama 2012. The two have been exchanging playful tweets for the past month, and Webb shared the above picture of the two together on Christmas Eve.

According to her profile on the Miss Universe website, Webb is a graduate of Auburn University. That probably won’t sit too well with most Crimson Tide fans.

Busted Coverage, which put it together that McCarron and Webb are dating, dug up a tweet Webb sent last month that makes it seem like she has switched allegiances.

McCarron and Webb spending the holidays together? That’s pretty serious.

Nicely done, A.J., we definitely approve. This certainly puts McCarron neck-and-neck with Johnny Manziel in the girlfriend department.

A.J. McCarron’s chest tattoo has reached some sort of folklore status. When the Alabama quarterback’s ink job first appeared on the Internet last summer, the reactions were strong. Our own Steve DelVecchio called it “just embarrassing.” Others described it in far worse ways.

We later came to find out that the tattoo actually had some strong personal meaning for McCarron. We had also heard that McCarron added to it, but there were no photographs to support such claims. Until now.

Outkick the Coverage posted the above picture on Saturday of McCarron’s chest tattoo, which has undergone several additions. A cross now hangs at the bottom of the design, and plenty of ink was added to both sides. The phrase “Home team” appears on McCarron’s right pectoral, while the words “God in control” are to the left.

Call me crazy, but I actually think it looks better now.

Here’s what it looked like before:

Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron was so overcome by emotion after leading the Crimson Tide to a go-ahead score against LSU on Saturday night that he began crying on the sidelines.

McCarron and Bama’s offense were quiet in the second half of the game in Baton Rouge and it looked like they were going to lose. After LSU missed a field goal, Bama got the ball at their 28 with 1:34 left and went 72 yards over five plays in just 43 seconds to take the lead. After being able to do much in the second half, McCarron led his team down the field for the win. He capped the drive with a 28-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Yeldon.

The junior quarterback went 14/27 for 165 yards and the winning touchdown in Bama’s 21-17 win over LSU. He also had a rushing touchdown.

Bama fans no doubt like this image a lot more than last year’s Roll Tide crying image.
