Alex Morgan has received plenty of attention off the field because of her looks, but the U.S. soccer star is still more comfortable doing what’s natural for her: playing.

Morgan did an interview with USA Today and was asked if it’s harder being a soccer star or a model (like she was for Sports Illustrated).

“It’s definitely harder trying to be a model for a day, because I am in no way a model,” she says. “Soccer is what I grew up doing – it’s my passion, and I’m way more comfortable on the field in my soccer cleats.”

The U.S. women’s national team is preparing for its first Olympics game later this month after beating Canada 2-1 last Saturday. Morgan is the team’s leading scorer with 17 goals this year and has become one of the most well known faces on the squad. Her surge in popularity has made it difficult for to balance all her demands.

“My playing time has increased over the year, but for me, it’s just knowing when to say no to media or work like that and just focus on soccer and make soccer a priority,” she told USA Today.

Considering how well she’s been playing, it seems like she’s balancing things quite well. And as far as the modeling goes, Morgan told King5 News in Seattle that she was happy with the way her body paint pictures turned out. We’re guessing Morgan’s boyfriend was happy with them too.

Alex Morgan is a popular gal. That’s especially the case on Twitter, where some of her thousands of adoring fans often attempt some harmless (and hopeless) flirting with the soccer star. (She’s taken, fellas. But, hey, we don’t blame you for trying.) But at least those fans know what she looks like. Can’t say the same for Robert Griffin III when he tried to jump on the Alex Morgan bandwagon this week.

Observe:

Oh, well this is nice. Honestly, who isn’t an RGIII fan? Well, other than Von Miller.

Shameless tweet by Griffin. But this is Alex Morgan we’re talking about. Can’t say we blame him. Let’s see how she responds.

Hopefully once word gets around that DeAngelo Hall and Alex Morgan were chatting back and forth on Twitter, everyone calls it flirting. That way we can see if Hall gets all worked up about it like Evan Longoria did that time when he and Morgan were chatting and everyone said he was trying to pick her up. It’s just more fun when that happens. Anyway, Hall recently tweeted back and forth with the U.S. Women’s soccer star, and by the end of the conversation he convinced her to attend a Redskins game next season. Either Morgan knows nothing about football, or she has high hopes for what the Robert Griffin III era might bring.

Sorry if you were one of the thousands of eager males who sent marriage proposals to Alex Morgan during the World Cup — you don’t have a chance — if her boyfriend has anything to say about it, that is.

Servando Carrasco has been together with Morgan since the two played soccer at Cal together in college. Though the two were in opposite parts of the country playing professionally, they said Skype was the key to their relationship. And even though Morgan has exploded in popularity — she’s thrown out the first pitch at an MLB game and posed in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition — the two are still together.

Carrasco helped organize a deal for Morgan to be traded to Seattle so they could play in the same city. He also told The Seattle Times he sees the two staying together regardless of how much attention Morgan gets.

“In my eyes, she’s the same girl that I met in college. Nothing’s changed in our relationship,” Carrasco said. “We’re going to be together for a very long time. She’s a very down-to-earth girl. She doesn’t let all of the attention get to her.

“She’s been so successful lately, but she still has that same work ethic. The sky’s the limit for her, and I think the Olympics coming up is going to be a great stage for her. I’m sure she’s going to do some amazing things this summer. There’s a lot of opportunities coming up for her and I’m extremely proud of her.”

Carrasco’s comments are not surprising. Last September, Morgan even said all the attention she was receiving was a little weird, so it’s no surprise to hear she hasn’t changed.

For the average person, Friday is a good day and signals the end of the work week. This Friday, however, should be a good day for all people. Friday morning’s edition of S.I. Hot Clicks revealed some tremendous news that should give us all something to look forward to. U.S. Women’s soccer star Alex Morgan is featured in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, which comes out Feb. 14. You know the body paint section we’ve all grown to love over the years? Yeah, she’s doing that. Here is a preview:

Several months ago Morgan said all the attention she had been receiving was a “little weird.” One Twitter avatar featuring her six pack abs and a Swimsuit Issue later, and I’d say she’s doing just fine in the spotlight.

Soccer player Alex Morgan shared a new Twitter avatar with her 276,000+ followers last week, receiving plenty of positive responses. The picture looks like it came from a photo shoot for an advertising campaign, so maybe we’ll see it on TV or in print in the future. We always knew she was physically fit, but who knew she was rocking a six pack? Settle down, guys, at least check we heard she had a boyfriend.

Back in July, the U.S. women’s national soccer team received tons of media coverage and fanfare for their performance in the World Cup. They had a captivating comeback win over Brazil in the quarterfinals, and made it to the finals before losing to Japan. There were many reasons the team became so popular (having a few attractive star players doesn’t hurt). Alex Morgan and Hope Solo received plenty of attention because of their stellar play and good looks. They received marriage proposals, thousands of new Twitter followers, and attention from fellow famous athletes. Rays third baseman Evan Longoria is one of the athletes who seemed to be flirting with Morgan.

In July, Longoria tweeted at Morgan “the TB Rays want to have you USA soccer girls out to throw out first pitches and chill at a game!” Morgan responded and said she wanted to, but she ended up throwing a first pitch at a Royals game.

It seemed like Longoria was flirting (he could have sent his tweet to any other player but he chose Morgan), but he denies that is the case.

“I tweeted Alex Morgan a couple times [during the Women's World Cup] and everybody on Twitter assumed that you’re trying to hit on somebody. You can’t really give a sincere tweet. If it’s to a girl, [they think] you’re trying to get in their pants,” Longoria said on the Hot Clicks podcast.

“That’s funny to me. Alex, hey, she’s a good looking girl. For me, Twitter is not used as a dating service. I figure it’s more of a way to connect to your fans.”

So Longoria admits she’s good looking, directed his original tweet at Alex and not any of the other players, and we’re supposed to buy that he wasn’t flirting. It’s OK Longo, you’re not the only one who likes her. Plus, it’s not like you got shot down — everybody knows she has a boyfriend. Just man up and admit you were trying to get in with her.
