Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford is reportedly wrapped up in a nasty custody battle with the mother of his two children. Crawford, who we recently discovered is expecting a child with Evelyn Lozada, is trying to stop his ex-girlfriend Amy Freeman from moving to California.
Crawford and Freeman have two children together — a 9-year old son and 5-month old daughter. As we previously noted, Lozada is reportedly six months pregnant with Crawford’s child. Since he has a 5-month-old daughter with Freeman and allegedly impregnated another woman six months ago, it’s obvious we’re dealing with a sensitive situation.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Crawford claims Freeman has lived in Arizona for the past 12 years and has been raising the former couple’s two children. Crawford says Freeman suddenly packed up, put her house on the market and pulled their 9-year-old son out of school in October.
Freeman supposedly said she is moving the children to California so they can be closer to their father. Crawford isn’t buying it and insists Freeman is just after more of his $142 million contract. California has more favorable child support laws than Arizona, and Crawford believes Freeman is looking to take advantage of that. Therefore, he’s asking a judge to block her from moving to Cali.
Believe it or not, this is the second time we have heard of a custody battle like this. Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash was reportedly dealing with the exact same situation a year ago when his ex-wife was trying to relocate.
