Ravens brag about Ray Rice getting standing ovation

Ray-Rice-story

Ray Rice was given a hero’s welcome in his return to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night. Rice, who has been busy in court and disciplinary hearings this offseason after a domestic assault incident involving his wife Janay Palmer, got a standing ovation from Ravens fans as he took the field at an open training camp practice. We know this because the Ravens proudly pointed it out.

One of the top stories on the Ravens’ official website describes the warm welcome Rice received. He was described as “emotional” in his return and the story was written in the type of tone that would be taken if a player returned after losing a family member. The Ravens also shared a video of Rice’s reception through multiple social media avenues.

You probably don’t need us to explain how this is an issue, but we will anyway. Fans have the right to react to Rice any way they please. That said, this is a guy who was seen on video dragging his unconscious fiancee out of an elevator. Police also reportedly had video of Rice knocking Palmer out.

Had it not been for Palmer begging the NFL to be lenient with Rice’s punishment, he probably would have been suspended for more than two games. He’s lucky he’s not in jail. Rice’s “return” shouldn’t be celebrated, and the Ravens certainly don’t need to bring any added attention to him at a time like this — especially positive attention.

Couple got engaged in street during Ravens fans Super Bowl celebration (Video)

Ravens-fan-Super-Bowl-proposalSunday night was a special night for Baltimore Ravens fans, many of who filled the streets of Baltimore to celebrate their team’s Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers. As if winning a championship isn’t thrilling enough, one fan was captured on camera making the celebration an even more memorable experience.

As you can see at the 38-second mark of the video above that was posted on Reddit, a fan was recording some of the festivities when he came across a man who was down on one knee proposing to his girlfriend. Judging by her reaction, it’s safe to say the answer was yes.

My question is this: was this dude proposing after the game win or lose? I’m guessing he had some sort of alternate proposal plan in place. If his girlfriend is a big Ravens fan and he asked her to marry him after a Super Bowl loss, there’s a good chance he would have ended up like this guy.

Baltimore symphony creates ‘Hail to the Ravens!’ song (Video)

It seems like everyone in Baltimore is catching Ravens fever. Two weeks ago, a group of Ravens fans created a “Call me Maybe” parody song before the team’s AFC Championship Game at the New England Patriots. This week, it’s the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra getting in on the act.

Musicians and friends of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra created a “Hail to the Ravens!” song that was uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday. The title of the song seems to be modeled after the Washington Redskins’ “Hail to the Redskins” fight song.

The passion of the performers is evident. They’re all wearing purple, and singer Mark McGrath is sporting an Ed Reed jersey. The song mentions numerous Ravens players by number or nickname, and it closes by predicting a “win for Baltimore!”

You can read the full song lyrics below, courtesy of the BSO Music YouTube page:

Ravens fans make ‘Bring on Brady’ Call Me Maybe parody (Video)

Bring-on-Brady-Call-Me-MaybeThe nation had more than its fill of “Call Me Maybe” and “Gangnam Style” parodies in 2012, but some people aren’t ready to let the phenomenon die now that we have entered the new year. On Wednesday, a trio of Baltimore Ravens fans posted a video on YouTube called “Bring on Brady.” For those of you who couldn’t guess, the song centers around them calling out Tom Brady.

Personally, I thought the Tampa Bay Rays rookies did a much better job with the song.

It has been said that Bill Belichick is obsessed with bulletin board material, although he pretends he ignores all of it. The Patriots already have their cork board loaded with trash talk from Brendon Ayanbadejo and guarantees from Anquan Boldin. Do they have room for these fans, or will Belichick just email the video to Brady to get him pumped up the night before the game?

Yes, that was a joke.

Ravens fan gives crazy a new meaning as team beats Broncos (Video)

Crazy-Ravens-fanWell, it didn’t take long for the internet to discover the craziest Baltimore Ravens fan on earth, who naturally was watching his team’s dramatic win over the Denver Broncos on Saturday. If you think you know someone who acts like more of a lunatic during a sporting event than the man you see above, we’d love it if you could share some footage with us.

As The Big Lead pointed out, this gentleman’s wife was recording him as he watched the Broncos and Ravens go back-and-forth for more than five quarters of football. The video you see above is his reaction to Ray Rice tying the game at 28 with a rushing touchdown in the 3rd quarter. Below you will see him reacting to Baltimore tying the game on Jacoby Jones’ ridiculous touchdown near the end of regulation, followed by the elation he felt when Joe Flacco and company sealed the deal.

Ravens fans chant ‘bullsh**’ as loud as you will ever hear (Video)

As Brandon Spikes already phrased more eloquently than we ever could, the replacement officials were as bad as they have been all year during Sunday night’s game between the Patriots and Ravens. Their performance resulted in 70,000-plus fans reaching their boiling point toward the end of the game when John Harbaugh received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Harbaugh claims he was trying to call timeout which may not be true, but how often do we see coaches getting flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct during such a crucial moment in the game?

On one hand, the terrible calls are an outrage. On the other, we can’t be too upset about it because it lead to one of the most audible “bullsh**” chants you will ever hear from a stadium full of fans. We’ve seen fans taunt opposing players and they can certainly get vulgar at times, but I’m pretty confident the women and children were in on this one. That’s how bad this replacement ref situation has gotten.

Still, I don’t think the Baltimore fans were quite as angry as Bill Belichick.
