Shaq goes Animal House, breaks Brent Barry’s guitar (Video)

Shaq Brent Barry guitarShaq took a page out of the “Animal House” book for a funny skit during “Inside the NBA” Tuesday on TNT.

At a break during the Knicks-Nets game, TNT showed a funny clip of Brent Barry serenading some women with his guitar. Up stepped Shaq, who tore the guitar out of Barry’s hands, began singing “Jessie’s Girl,” and then smashed the guitar against a post like Brother Bluto. It was awesome.

Shaq of course continued on his pattern of insisting that Barry play the classics!

The only scene involving “Jessie’s Girl” that we’ve seen that was better is this one from “Boogie Nights”:

Ricky Springfield! He’s a buddy of mine!

Tony Parker Reportedly Involved with Erin Barry, Brent Barry’s Soon-to-be Ex-Wife

I guess this is what you call a wife swap. Not long after it was announced Eva Longoria filed for a divorce from Tony Parker we found out about several cheating incidents. One was an incident that supposedly took place early in the couple’s marriage. The larger issue at hand seemed to be that Longoria found hundreds of texts exchanged between Tony and a teammate’s wife. Obviously everyone wondered who the teammate was, and according to Bryan A. Graham it’s former teammate Brent Barry.

Brent played with Parker on the Spurs for four seasons from 2004-2008, a period during which San Antonio won two titles. Barry and his wife Erin are apparently going through a divorce. Here’s a picture of the two couples from Jose3030:

Before you go off saying how crazy and off-the-wall this story is, allow me to remind you of Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson. Now that will blow your mind.

Foul on Derek Fisher or No Foul?

I suppose another way of asking the same question is: should the refs be blowing the whistle that late in the game? In case you missed the close play or want to see it again, here it is, because it’s pretty clear there’s a lot of contact.

That looks a lot like a foul, and I’ll go on the side that says Brent Barry should have been put on the line. But it’s not something I’m going to waste much oxygen on. The Lakers were in charge the entire game, leading the whole way. If the Spurs wanted to win, they had 48 minutes to ensure the game wouldn’t be put in the referees’ hands for the final seconds, which they let happen. Now one conspiracy theory issue is something BP pointed out at Awful Announcing prior to the game: Joe Crawford was reffing it. The same Joe Crawford who kicked Duncan out of a game last year for laughing. No nonsense Joe Crawford, who was responsible for the non-call on Fisher. I wouldn’t blame him for the loss — far from it — but I do think this is a great side note.

Brent Barry Misses Spurs Game With Tummy Ache

Yes, true story … if you believe Yahoo! Sports which sure seems to have a proclivity for making fun of Spurs players when they miss games, and screw up boxscores on a regular basis.  But this latest jack up seems completely uncalled for.  Matter of fact, how the heck did the Yahoo! scorer even come up with it?  Was he in the locker room for Barry’s pregame meal?  Somebody get Barry a 7up or something.

Here’s a closer look:

The Spurs lost the meaningless contest to the Grizzlies, not that you cared.
