Caroline Wozniacki took Instagram shot at Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki said she was looking for more followers on Instagram, and what better way to drive some attention to your account than by starting a mini-controversy?

Woz seemingly took a shot at ex-boyfriend Rory McIlroy with a post on Thursday that featured her wearing high heels.

“Out and about in Istanbul. It’s been 3 years since I have worn heels on a normal day out. #feelsgood #looksgood #shopping #highheels #sun,” she wrote on her account.

Here’s the picture she shared:

Wozniacki is 5-foot-10, while McIlroy is shorter at 5-foot-8. She probably did him some favors by wearing flats when they were together.

Cute jab, but definitely mild.

If this is all Woz is going to do say about McIlroy, then he got off lightly for someone who supposedly dumped her over the phone.

Feliciano Lopez putting the moves on Caroline Wozniacki?

Caroline Wozniacki Feliciano Lopez

Caroline Wozniacki recently became single again and it looks like she already has a suitor.

According to a few reports, Spanish tennis player Feliciano Lopez has been attending some of the Danish player’s matches lately, sparking speculation that he may be romantically interested in her.

The line of conversation began at Wimbledon, where Woz was asked whether she would turn to online dating.

“I think I’m not that desperate,” Wozniacki said. “To be honest, you know, I’ll just see what happens. I’m perfectly fine being single at the moment.

“It’s pretty hard to sweep me off my feet. It would have to take someone very special. You know, you never know. I guess when you least expect it, it’s going to come.”

A reporter pointed out that Lopez was watching Woz’s first-round match at Wimbledon.

“You noticed?” she asked the reporter in response.

Then it was pointed out that Lopez has a relationship with her dad.

“He’s already making his way in through my dad? I noticed he was on the sidelines in Eastbourne. No, he’s a great guy. Playing well. This is very awkward.”

After Rory McIlroy broke up with her last month, Caroline could do much worse than coupling up with Lopez. Keep in mind that Andy Murray’s mother had (has?) a crush on him and nicknamed him “Deliciano” Lopez. He’s a pretty desirable guy.

Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki and Greg Oden celebrate Heat win

Serena Williams Caroline Wozniacki Greg Oden

If this isn’t about the oddest trio to take a photo together at a Miami Heat game, then I don’t know what is.

Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki both attended Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals between the Heat and Pacers in Miami on Friday night and celebrated the series-clinching win by taking a photo with Greg Oden after the game.

Serena and Woz both were knocked out of the French Open early and have plenty of time on their hands to enjoy themselves, and they’re doing just that. Serena is a minority owner of the Heat, while Wozniacki has been a fan of the club for the last few years and even attended games with ex-fiance Rory McIlroy.

I have to say, what Serena is doing to lift the spirits of her heartbroken friend is pretty cool. Not only did she send a positive tweet to Caro last week, but the two hung out before the French Open and obviously are now hanging out together since they’ve lost. Nothing like going to a big-time Heat game and hanging with Serena to help you get over an ex.

Did Caroline Wozniacki put a hex on Rory McIlroy?

Caroline-Wozniacki-witch

Prior to Friday, Rory McIlroy had been playing some of his best golf of the season in the wake of dumping his fiancee Caroline Wozniacki. McIlroy won the European BMW PGA Championship last weekend and kicked off the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village on Thursday by firing a 63 in the first round. Then, Wozniacki changed her Twitter avatar.

For whatever reason, Woz made her avatar a photo of her looking like a witch standing over her giant kettle. Chris Chase of For the Win noted that the photo was originally posted last October during a Halloween celebration.

The picture made sense in October, but what about now? If you believe in dungeons and dragons and witches and warlocks, you might find it interesting that McIlroy shot a second-round 78 on Friday, which could go down as the worst round of the day among the entire field.

What’s in the pot, Caroline? We’re onto you…

Caroline Wozniacki: Rory McIlroy breakup was a ‘shock’

Rory McIlroy Caroline WozniackiCaroline Wozniacki and Rory McIlroy did not have a mutual split. It was clearly the 25-year-old Northern Irishman’s decision, and Wozniacki’s public comments about the breakup have confirmed that. Earlier this week, Wozniacki lost to Yanina Wickmayer at the French Open in her first match since the engagement was called off. She described herself as being in a state of “shock.”

“You’re not prepared for something like this, and it came as a bit of a shock,” Wozniacki said, according to The Independent. “I just tried to prepare the best that I could, and really tried to focus on my match and on what I had to do out there.”

After learning some of the details of the breakup, it’s easy to understand why Wozniacki was stunned. McIlroy decided to end the relationship just says after the couple’s wedding invitations went out. He said the sending of the invitations made him realize he “wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails.” McIlroy then supposedly broke up up Wozniacki in a very brief phone conversation.

Now, Wozniacki is just looking to move forward.

“The only thing I really have to say is that to thank everybody for their support and sweet messages,” she said. “That’s really nice. What happens in my personal life, I just want to really keep that between my closest people around me. I just have to move on.”

McIlroy has already moved on by winning a tournament. Hopefully Wozniacki is able to do the same.

Rory McIlroy reportedly broke up with Caroline Wozniacki over the phone

Rory McIlroy Caroline WozniackiRory McIlroy made an abrupt decision to end his relationship with Caroline Wozniacki last week. He has implied that the calling off of their engagement was mutual, but it sure doesn’t seem that way. In fact, one report claims Wozniacki thought McIlroy was joking when he told her he wanted to end things.

According to Neil Harman of The Times in London, Wozniacki was still searching for answers about the sudden breakup after her loss at the French Open.

“The last time he called, less than a day after telling her how much he loved her, it was a three-minute conversation she thought was a joke,” Harman wrote, according to For the Win.

If that was indeed the last time McIlroy called Wozniacki, that would imply that the 25-year-old golfer broke up with his fiancee over the phone. Christopher Clarey of The New York Times heard a similar story.

McIlroy’s decision to dump Wozniacki came just a few days after their wedding invitations were sent out. I suppose that’s better than leaving her at the alter, but you would think he could wait until they got together to have “the talk” in person.

It probably stings Wozniacki even more that McIlroy went on to win a tournament just days after breaking up with her.

Kids will be kids?

Rory McIlroy reportedly felt Caroline Wozniacki was hurting his golf game

Rory McIlroy Caroline WozniackiRory McIlroy has been criticized over the past year or so for not spending enough time working on his golf game. The 25-year-old Northern Irishman has fallen off a bit since he burst onto the scene by winning the US Open in 2011 and the PGA Championship the next year.

Was Caroline Wozniacki part of the problem?

McIlroy announced on Wednesday that he has called off his engagement with Wozniacki just days after their wedding invitations were sent out. According to the New York Post’s Page Six, Rory felt that his personal life was affecting his golf game.

“Rory’s game hasn’t been as consistently good in the time he’s been with Caroline,” a source reportedly said. “He was a young guy in love and was flying around the world to see her play in tournaments or meet up with her. He was missing practice rounds. It was a distraction.”

Back in July, golf legend Nick Faldo accused McIlroy of not spending enough time on the course and worrying too much about his personal life. McIlroy later fired back and reminded his critics how difficult the game of golf can be. Gary Player made similar remarks when he said McIlroy needs to find the right woman.

Perhaps Wozniacki was losing focus, too.

“When you have two players focused on being No. 1, it’s a huge commitment to see each other, physically and emotionally,” the Post’s source added. “As tough as the decision to end the relationship might have been, it is wise to do it now rather than after they were married.”

I still think the love life excuse was overplayed, but you never know. We’ll see how McIlroy plays the rest of the way in 2014.
