Charles Barkley will not apologize to fat women of San Antonio

Charles BarkleyWhen multiple obesity groups came out last week and demanded that Charles Barkley apologize for his recent comments about fat women in San Antonio, we knew Chuck was probably sitting at home laughing hysterically. His reaction to the cries for an apology has confirmed that.

During Sunday night’s “Inside the NBA” telecast, Barkley made it clear that there is no apology coming.

“If you don’t like me or the show, turn it off,” he said, via For the Win. “And they want me to apologize. That’s not going to happen. That’s not gonna happen. You all can write letters to your momma, your daddy, your uncle. I’m going to have fun on television. You know that I’m joking around. But if y’all waiting on me to apologize, hell gonna freeze over.”

Shaq, Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith all burst out laughing at Barkley’s defiance, which will likely infuriate the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance. Sir Charles has been singing the same tune about overweight women in San Antonio for a years, and he’s not going to stop anytime soon. Demanding an apology only brings further attention to him, which we all know he loves.

Charles Barkley double-fisting churros is the best Charles Barkley GIF ever

GIF: Charles Barkley - two fisting churros on Twitpic

Charles Barkley has no shame. No shame whatsoever. On “Inside the NBA” on TNT Wednesday night, Chuck either decided to show us what he looks like when he’s double-fisting those delicious churros down in San Antonio, or he was giving the viewing public lessons on how to give a proper BJ.

At the top is a GIF of Chuck showing us what it’s like when he double-fists churros. Below is a GIF of Chuck drinking Shaq’s soda while eating churros:

Obesity and fat groups upset with Charles Barkley over San Antonio women comments

Charles Barkley went to town like usual when breaking down the overweight (in his opinion) women of San Antonio during “Inside the NBA” on TNT Tuesday.

The comments came before Game 1 of the Spurs’ series with the Portland Trail Blazers, a series in which Chuck picked the Blazers to win because he doesn’t believe in San Antonio’s “old guys.

After Chuck gave his pick, one of the guys on the set wound him up by asking him for his opinion on San Antonio women. That question just opened the flood gates for jokes that Chuck has used over the years, and he brought them all back up. And now he’s facing the music.

The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance wants Chuck to apologize for his comments, which included saying there are some “big ‘ol women” in San Antonio and that it’s a “gold mine for Weight Watchers,” for whom he is a spokesperson.

Charles Barkley

“Making slurs about body size is just as offensive as making comments about body color,” spokesperson Peggy Howell told TMZ Sports. “One would think being a black man, he’d be more sensitive to having his physical body criticized. It’s totally out of line. He should absolutely apologize.”

In addition to the Fat Acceptance group, the President of the Obesity Action Coalition issued a statement about being disappointed with Barkley.

“As a former NBA player and sports entertainment figure, Mr. Barkley should encourage equality and respect among society and not look to shame or segment one population because of their size. Obesity is a serious medical condition and not a joking matter.”

Welp, I bet Barkley, who is no slim jim himself, never thought he’d be the target of some fat groups’ anger. The truth is Chuck is probably laughing over all of this. This is just pure comedy to him.

And if that was Kenny Smith who teed him up, he knew exactly what he was doing!

Charles Barkley doesn’t believe in ‘old guys’ from the Spurs (Video)

Charles BarkleyCharles Barkley is picking the Portland Trail Blazers to beat the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference semifinals, and it’s all because he doesn’t believe in the “old guys” from the Spurs.

See, Chuck feels that the seven-game series with the Dallas Mavericks wore down San Antonio, making them ripe for Portland’s picking. Even if they do beat Portland, Chuck doesn’t see them reaching the NBA Finals anyhow because they’re too old.

That was the pure pre-series analysis from Chuck. Things got funny on “Inside the NBA” Tuesday before Game 1 of the series when someone tossed Chuck a softball and asked him what he thought of the women in San Antonio. From there, it was all about overweight girls wearing bloomers and how Victoria’s Secret is legitimately a secret in the area. And of course he went in on the Riverwalk. You know, typical Chuck San Antonio bashing like usual.

Here he was bashing San Antonio’s fat women last year during the postseason.

Charles Barkley rips Magic Johnson for celebrating Mike D’Antoni resignation

Magic JohnsonWhen Magic Johnson sent a celebratory tweet after Mike D’Antoni announced he is resigning from his position as Los Angeles Lakers head coach on Wednesday, most of us felt the same way. D’Antoni wasn’t exactly put in a position to succeed, so it was kind of cruel for Magic to dance on his grave like that. Charles Barkley alluded to that on “Inside the NBA” Wednesday night.

“Magic Johnson’s bigger than that. Magic Johnson’s bigger than that,” Barkley said, via For the Win. “Listen, Mike D’Antoni is a good coach. They didn’t give him a lot to work with. But Magic Johnson, he’s bigger than that.”

Magic has been unhappy with the state of the Lakers for quite some time now. He has expressed disappointment with Jim Buss, blamed D’Antoni and blamed the players. But it’s not D’Antoni’s fault that Kobe Bryant has suffered two serious injuries that ended back-to-back seasons. Barkley pointed that out while talking to co-host Ernie Johnson.

“The Lakers weren’t going to win with Phil Jackson, either, Ernie,” Barkley added. They don’t have good players. … We know Phil Jackson’s arguably the greatest coach ever. The Lakers don’t have players, Ernie. They’re not a good team. Kobe Bryant is one of the 10 greatest players ever. He’s never going to be what he was. They don’t have good players. I’m not sure if Phil Jackson really wanted that job. The Lakers stink, and they’re going to stink.”

I agree. D’Antoni obviously hasn’t utilized Pau Gasol to the best of his abilities, but you can’t make chicken salad out of chicken s—. Magic didn’t need to kick him while he was down.

Shaq talks about when Charles Barkley kissed a Dick in the mouth (Video)

Shaq worded something in an intentionally awkward way during “Inside the NBA” on TNT Thursday night when the crew was talking about priming officials.

Charles BarkleyThe subject came up because Kendrick Perkins asked to talk with a referee prior to Game 3 between the Thunder and Grizzlies about the way he and Zach Randolph were playing each other. Once the clip was finished, Charles Barkley talked about his relationship with referees. Shaq then interjected by saying Chuck used to kiss up to the refs. And then he blurted out the line that will make anyone with an 8-year-old’s sense of humor laugh:

“You kissed Dick in the mouth,” said Shaq.

Chuck responded by saying that “didn’t sound good.”

But everyone knows Shaq definitely termed it that way on purpose.

And if you’ve never seen the Chuck-Dick Bavetta race and kiss, watch it here. And follow that link. It will take you back to old school LBS and a post I wrote in the second month of the site’s existence back in 2007.

Charles Barkley rips Pacers, calls them ‘wussies’

Charles-BarkleyThe Indiana Pacers played very poorly throughout the final two months of the regular season, and the trend continued in Game 1 of their playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night. Despite their disappointing play down the stretch, Indiana still secured the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. You wouldn’t know it by watching them on the court.

Like many others, Charles Barkley is fed up with watching such a talented team struggle to score points. He went off on the Pacers on Sunday’s “Inside the NBA” halftime show.

“You guys talk all that noise all year,” Barkley said. “‘We want home court.’ Then you come out (Saturday) night and play like dogs.”

Barkley then complimented the Pacers for having a great front office presence in Larry Bird and a great head coach in Frank Vogel.

“But to come out and play like wussies the last month of the season, get a fresh start and then come out at home (Saturday) night… I was disappointed because I’m an Indiana fan,” he continued. “But to come out and play like flat wussies… Come on man, ya’ll are better than that. You’re embarrassing coach Vogel and the great Larry Bird.”

I’m sure Indiana fans feel the same way as Sir Charles. The No. 1 seed has lost in the first round just 8% of the time in the NBA playoffs, but the Pacers look incredibly vulnerable. They have seemingly had chemistry issues for a while and have lost their identity. With the way Jeff Teague played in Game 1, Indiana fans have every right to be concerned.
