Danilo Gallinari undergoes ACL surgery nine months after tearing it

Danilo GallinariDanilo Gallinari underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair the torn ACL in his left knee and will be out for the season, according to a report.

Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news and says the Denver Nuggets expect to have Gallo back early next season.

Gallinari first tore his ACL last April. He underwent surgery to repair the torn meniscus, but ACL surgery was delayed because the doctor was hopeful that the ligament could strengthen on its own. That didn’t happen, and now Gallinari underwent reconstructive ACL surgery.

Gallinari has not played in a game since suffering the injury on April 4. He’s already missed nine months and will miss several more months. I’m not sure how this can be viewed as anything other than a miscalculation by the doctor.

Danilo Gallinari’s Italian celebration was a thing of beauty (Video)

Danilo Gallinari Italian kissThat jumpshot of Danilo Gallinari? Bellissimo!

The young Italian sharpshooter had 21 points in Denver’s 113-96 win over the Utah Jazz Wednesday, and he showed us how the Nuggets get down with their Italian celebration after he makes big shots.

Love the celebration, still not buying the Nuggets as a championship contender.

Danilo Gallinari warned for pathetic flop (Video)

Danilo Gallinari flopDanilo Gallinari was warned by the NBA Thursday for his pathetic flop attempt earlier in the week.

During a 110-86 loss at the New Orleans Hornets Monday, Gallo pretended like he was taking a charge from Robin Lopez and launched himself backward like a character in “The Matrix.” He made a sound to make it seem like he was pushed, but the truth is he was just acting.

The NBA posted the video on its website Thursday and noted that Gallinari received a warning for violating the league’s new anti-flopping policy. His next violation would result in a $5,000 fine.

Ironically, when the flop rule was first introduced, Gallinari objected to the notion that flopping is a European tendency.

“I don’t know why everybody just talks about European flopping,” he said. “I don’t know where this thing comes from. We flop as much as other players all around the world flop. I don’t know why everybody keeps saying that Europeans are soft or Europeans flops. I don’t know.”

As Chris Paul recently showed us, flopping is something anyone can do. But this still was not a good look for Gallo.

Video: Danilo Gallinari Blows Layup vs. Lakers

The Nuggets gave the Lakers a heck of a game Saturday at Staples Center before losing 92-89. They actually should have sent the game to overtime, but Danilo Gallinari blew a lefty layup in the final seconds.

Here is a video of the “unmolested layup” Gallinari missed with his team down 91-89:

The blown play rounded out an off game for Danilo. He was 3-of-12 for only seven points, and he missed all four of his three-point attempts. Guess he forgot to take a sheet before the game.

Thanks to @Jose3030 for sharing the video.

Danilo Gallinari Was Asked to be Kim Kardashian’s Boyfriend Before Humphries?

Oh this Kim Kardashian + (insert athlete here) story line continues to get better and better. Recently we told you that Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were having marital trouble. That may be the case, but it’s likely a good thing for them because it helps keep Kim in the news. Anyway, on to more important matters, a report from Wetpaint Entertainment suggests that Kim’s relationship with Kris Humphries was arranged. From their report:

According to our source, both E! [the network that televises Kim's reality show] and Kim were interested in having her date a big New York athlete for the debut season of Kourtney & Kim Take New York, and the Knicks were their first choice. (The show, which first aired in January 2011, begins its second season next month.) [Danilo] Gallinari — then 22 to Kim’s 30 — was told that such a move would be good for his career and that he would garner lots of media exposure. Gallinari declined, saying he would be happy to meet Kim but wasn’t interested in dating or being a reality-show star.

When they didn’t find any Knicks for her to date, they ostensibly moved onto the Nets, which is how they found Kris Humphries. Now this answers a lot of questions about where Kris came from, considering he lacked a national profile prior to his relationship with Kim. It also supports what I said about the report suggesting Kim cheated on Kris with football player Bret Lockett. Many of these stories are manufactured by the reality TV crew to generate interest in the show. It’s hard to know what’s real and what isn’t, but the Kardashians sure know how to keep the audience hooked.

Danilo Gallinari Take a Sheet Video May be Greatest Marketing Campaign Ever

This Danilo Gallinari take a sheet video is awesome for several reasons. One, it’s short and sweet, which is perfect for our fledgling attention spans. Two, it immediately grabs your attention with the “take a sheet” because that sounds so crude and offensive. Three, there like no way you can possibly watch that video and not want to go to their facebook page to find out what the heck it’s all about.

If you do head over to their facebook page, you find out that “Sheet” is a new energy product that comes as a thin strip that you place on your tongue. They’re available in cinnamon rush and berry blast flavors and they boast no calories, no sugar, and that they’re loaded with B-vitamins.
