We all know Agent Zero loves guns, so maybe he wanted to know what it would feel like to wear a police officer’s uniform.  Actually, that wouldn’t explain the skimpy aspect of it.  Along with the above picture which she posted on Twitter, Arenas’ wife wrote that he was “singing ‘Mrs. Officer, Mrs’ Officer!”  Unfortunately that’s all the information we have at this time.

Arenas was initially suspended indefinitely for the incident, but his suspension was extended for the season after he mocked it with this pre-game gesture. The suspension essentially ended Arenas’ career with the Wizards, and on Thursday he intimated that the team leaked the story.

Here’s what he said in a series of tweets as shared by IamaGM.com [edited for grammar and spelling]:

Everyone knows about my troubles last year ..the only reason you do know about it is because my money making days were up… as long as you are making somebody lots of money they will let you do what ever you want..when your time is up they will expose you to the world.

If you ever hear about anything in a locker room it’s because somebody in high power wants it to get out… once all the free shoes are gone..I will be attacked by the media…because there’s nothing to be gained anymore.

I know what people are saying..I brought ….into the locker room..there’s been full blow paint ball shoot outs in locker rooms. Being in the NBA you see everything…what I got in trouble for I’ve seen over a dozen times..

I did give them the tool to take me down so its know one’s fault but mine..and I’ve learned and got wiser from it.. Like I said I’ve made mistakes when you feel like u can do anything you want you try..and I got smacked down to reality when i went too far.

Arenas was in the second season of his six-year $111 million contract when the incident was first reported. He had played only 15 games the previous two seasons because of multiple knee operations, and the team was struggling (10-17) when the incident was revealed. Given all that background, it’s quite possible that some of what Arenas is suggesting is true.

For starters, if he were the same fun-loving Agent Zero from his early days in D.C. when he was an All-Star leading the Wizards to the playoffs, perhaps there would have been more of an effort to handle the matter internally. Can you really see a club going out of their way to report an incident to the league office about one of its star players? Me neither. Maybe Arenas is onto something, but like he said, if he never brought the guns into the locker room, this never would have happened.

The points he made are understandable and it’s fair to say he’s not a good fit in Orlando. Stan Van Gundy frequently complained that Gilbert wasn’t fitting the team’s system (on either end of the court). I’m not ready to write the rest of Gilbert’s career off, but it’s hard to envision him ever getting back to All-Star levels. One thing does look certain: if he does get back to his old scoring self, it probably will be with a team that has a looser structure.

In addition to Anderson, Gilbert Arenas, Brandon Bass, Earl Clark and Chris Duhon have incorporated boxing into their training regimen. Earlier this month, Arenas posted a nearly 15-minute long video of him training. Check it out:

All the while Gil has been playing for the Magic, trying to adjust with his new team. He’s kept his mouth shut for the most part, but we did get a few more details about his side of their story on Sunday.

Deadspin published quotes that supposedly came directly from Arenas, explaining what really went on with him and his ex-fiance. For instance, Arenas says Govan, despite her pleas that she and the children have been abandoned “gets 20 grand a month. She got $8,000 allowance.”

He says she is living in a three bedroom townhouse in San Ramon, California. He also adds that “All I hear is, ‘I left the kids.’ She won’t let the kids see me.”

“All I hear is, ‘Gilbert took everything.’ Sure I did. She took a SL600. She took the Range Rover, which I don’t mind because she has to drive the kids around. Oh, all my furniture and all my clothes, about $4 million worth of stuff? Gone.”

Like I said, there are two sides to every story, and Govan’s side is looking weaker and weaker by the day, and her claims are coming across as more preposterous every time. Now that we have their relationship saga straightened out, we just need to do something about fixing Gilbert’s game.

Govan hired a powerful LA-based attorney who “accidentally” filed court documents in with other paperwork so that it would be available publicly, and the documents miraculously ended up in the hands of the Washington Post. There have been numerous accusations coming from Govan intended to ruin Arenas’ character and make her look like a sympathetic figure.

She claims she was “abandoned” by Arenas and is not receiving any financial support from him. He says that’s b.s., explaining that she’s receiving $20,000 a month but wants more. He also added that the vengeful woman killed his pet sharks.

Anyway, continuing with her low, dirty methods, Govan had Arenas served with court papers at halftime of the Magic-Heat game Thursday night. Check out this picture via Mike Prada from SBN and Brian Packey on twitter:

Gil might not be the greatest person or family man as we’re coming to learn, but Govan is equally as bad and starting to look much worse. At times like this you can only feel badly for the children.

As for Arenas, Monday night’s game against the Nets may have given the guard a better understanding of why his new team is called the Magic.  Agent Zero (actually it’s Agent One now) hit nearly a full-court shot at the buzzer in the first half.  Unfortunately the shot didn’t count, as you basketball geniuses have figured out by reading the title of the post.  In any event, it was pretty impressive.  Check out the Gilbert Arenas 75-foot shot video, courtesy of Pro Basketball Talk:

Now if I were reffing the game, I would have given the Magic one point for the difficulty of the shot.  That would also make me a cheater and a fraud, so it would be a nice way to get to know my peers and start fitting in.

The Orlando Magic were dominating the NBA to begin the season, and then December came.  Something has gone wrong for the Magic lately, and it has resulted in five losses over the last six games.  We’ve known for a while that the Magic were interested in acquiring Gilbert Arenas, but we didn’t know they were going to blow up their roster to make it happen.

Pro Basketball Talk called our attention to a lot of dealing the Magic did on Saturday.  First, Orlando sent Vince Carter, Mikael Pietrus, and Marcin Gortat to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, and Earl Clark.  When that deal was finished, the Magic then traded Rashard Lewis to the Washington Wizards to get their boy Gilbert Arenas.

While the trade required the Magic to give up a lot of pieces, Orlando general manager Otis Smith wants to get his team back on track and winning right now.  In the short term, I think he made the right moves.  Assuming Arenas can improve upon his 39 percent shooting and stay on the court, he should provide a nice compliment to Jameer Nelson, who will have less ball-handling responsibility and be able to take more open shots.  Richardson will bring his slasher mentality and three-point range, while Turkoglu — although older — can fill some of the void left by Lewis for the time being.

As for Phoenix, Steve Nash can’t be happy. Carter isn’t the player he used to be and the Suns were clearly trying to cut salary by trading Turkoglu and acquiring a first round pick.  Nash said he didn’t think the Suns were a playoff team before the season began, so he can’t be pleased with the team’s most recent moves.  A 36-year-old player on a team that has committed to rebuilding for the long term is not a good mix.

According to Orlando Pinstriped Post, via J.E. Skeet’s Twitter, the Magic and Wizards are once again discussing a possible swap that includes the troubled Washington guard — who has a recent history of knee issues.  Arenas is owed more than $60 million over the next three seasons, and after the gun incident and all the discplinary problems surrounding him it has become clear the Wizards are trying to phase Agent Zero out.  The first step, of course, was drafting John Wall with the first overall pick in the draft.  The next could be getting something in return for Arenas.

According to the report, the only name that is off-limits in discussions is Dwight Howard.  Any deal would likely involve Vince Carter — who could bring a veteran presence to the Wizards and help mentor John Wall — and could include Andray Blatche, Rashard Lewis, or Daniel Orton.  Both teams reportedly understand what the other side would need to complete the deal.

As OPP points out, the Orlando Sentinel reported earlier in the week that the Magic are “willing to take a step back” by making a trade if it would improve their team for the long term.  With his age (28) and history of knee problems, I don’t really see how Arenas and his massive contract would be the solution.

Boy, has that story changed.  In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, via CBSSports, Arenas said he faked the injury because he was scared of getting booed, not so he could rest his surgically repaired knee or help out a teammate.  Here’s what he told SI:

I was really scared of getting booed,” says Arenas. “It’s a little crazy because I was here with Kwame Brown when Kwame was scared to go out there. I used to be like, Man, it’s just boos. Now here I was six years later, and I was him. I was scared to go out there.”

Huh?  We all know the gun incident tarnished Arenas’ reputation, but is he serious?  First of all, we know how sports fans are.  You do something stupid and you’re going to get booed for a little while — mainly on the road.  If you’re helping the home team win, they forget in a shorter amount of time than it takes Ron Artest to get his first technical of the season.

When you factor in that Gilbert went on to talk about how open he is to mentoring John Wall and stepping aside and allowing him to run the show, it seems to me like Arenas is fishing for sympathy.  There’s playing the “I’m a changed man” card, and then there’s saying you’re afraid of getting booed.  The latter is a little too much if you ask me.
