Ozzy Osbourne Scream Record Fail

As part of the Dodgers’ ThinkCure! Weekend to promote cancer research, singer (yeller?) Ozzy Osbourne made an appearance at Dodger Stadium on Friday night. Osbourne rallied the fans in attendance to try and break the Guinness Book of World Records loudest and longest scream during the 5th inning of the Freeway Series meeting between the Angels and Dodgers. I haven’t seen any official confirmation that the collaborative scream didn’t break the record, but judging by the video, they’re not even close. Here’s the Ozzy Osbourne Dodger Stadium scream record attempt video:

The good news is they got some publicity for a good cause — ThinkCure! Weekend. The bad news (aside from the scream record fail) is that the promotion also ties in with the release of an upcoming Ozzy Osbourne album entitled “Scream,” no surprise. What a sly man. Hey, it could have been a lot worse!

Angels Break Cavaliers Snuggie Record

It was only a month ago that the Cavaliers set the Guinness World Record for largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets thanks to a snuggie giveaway at a home game. The Angels saw what the Cavs did and thought pretty logically — we have a larger stadium capacity so we can easily blow that record away and grab some pub in the process. They did just that on the second day of the season, having their fans slip on a Hideki Matsui #55 Angels snuggie in the 5th inning of their game with the Twins. Here’s what it looks like when 43,510 fans slip on a red fleece blanket aka snuggie:

And here are a few close-ups via jennydaws and tekkenazo:

The Angels lost to the Twins 5-3 to even up the series and they got what they deserved for running a cheesy promo. My guess is some college football team comes along and blows them all away this fall. Just what we need, 106,000 maize snuggies at The Big House. Yikes.

Anderson Varejao Sports the Cleveland Cavaliers Snuggie

Anderson Varejao is quite the character as we’ve come to find out. No surprise he was out in front leading the Cavs in their effort to set a Guinness World Record for “largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets” aka snuggies. Check out Mr. Varejao sporting his Cleveland Cavaliers snuggie at the pregame shootaround.

Snuggie night wasn’t proving to be too successful early on as the Cavs were trailing by as much as 20 in the second quarter. I don’t know how I feel about the giveaway — it looks like a whole bunch of maroon Yodas in the crowd. Maybe come playoff time they’ll do a snuggie-out.
