Ole miss lost a tough game to No. 9 Texas A&M at home on Saturday. The Rebels had a chance to pick up their first signature win of the season, but Johnny Manziel and company proved to be too much and scored 10 points in the final three minutes. The fans, players and coaches were all understandably frustrated after that game. That frustration is likely what led to a shouting match between Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze and a fan.
ABC 24 in Memphis captured a video exchange of Freeze yelling at a fan in the student section after the fan apparently made a snide remark to him as he was heading to the locker room. The fan supposedly said something along the lines of “you need to think…,” though I’m guessing it was worse than that given Freeze’s reaction. The coach almost had to be held back by his escorts.
When a reporter asked Freeze about the exchange during his postgame press conference, he wanted no part of it and changed the subject. Students and fans yell stuff all the time. While coaches typically ignore it, human nature can sometimes take over after a close game like that. This is not the first time Freeze has lashed out at his critics.
