Jason Mayhem Miller facing domestic violence charge after arrest

Jason Mayhem MillerTroubled MMA fighter Jason “Mayhem” Miller was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday following an incident with a woman the day before.

According to information from the sheriff’s department provided to MMA Mania and other outlets, a woman called police on Saturday to say she was the victim of a domestic violence incident. The woman said the incident occurred after she found a text message on Miller’s phone.

The sheriff’s department told MMA Mania that the woman’s injuries included “multiple bruises covering both arms and both legs, laceration and bleeding above right eyebrow (approx. 1.5″ wide), and laceration to the right side of face (approx. 1.5″ wide). No property or weapons involved.”

Deputies were unable to contact Miller on Saturday to get his statement. They did find him early Sunday morning after responding to a call about a loud party at 5:30 a.m. in Mission Viejo, Calif. Miller supposedly was outside his home, yelling at neighbors. He was arrested based on the allegations from the day before.

Miller was released from jail on Monday after posting $50,000 bond.

Miller is 28-9 in his career and has not fought in over a year. He sparked a postfight brawl at Strikeforce: Nashville in 2010 after entering the cage and asking Jake Shields for a rematch. He was also arrested for a bizarre naked church romp last year.

Mayhem Miller arrested after naked church romp

Former UFC fighter Jason “Mayhem” Miller was arrested on Monday after having what appears to be a breakdown.

The MMA fighter and host of MTV’s “Bully Beatdown” allegedly trashed Mission Hills Church in Mission Viejo, Calif., according to TMZ. Police say Miller sprayed the church with a fire extinguisher and scattered the place with CDs, books, and broken pictures.

When police arrived, they reportedly found Miller awake and coherent, but he was naked on a couch on the second floor. He was taken into custody for alleged burglary and is undergoing medical evaluation.

Miller was cut from the UFC in May after a backstage incident following a loss to C.B. Dollaway at UFC 146. Miller, who is unafraid of controversy and infamously sparked a brawl at Strikeforce: Nashville in 2010, and was arrested on first-degree burglary charges in 2005 (he was acquitted).

He had a bizarre Twitter exchange with Dana White on Saturday that may have led to his further depression:

Jason Mayhem Miller Starts Brawl with Jake Shields at Strikeforce Nashville

Jason Mayhem Miller wasn’t fighting on the main card at Strikeforce Nashville Saturday night but he still managed to make himself part of the show. Following the main event fight between Jake Shields and Dan Henderson, Mayhem stepped into the postfight interview on CBS to solicit a rematch with Shields (Shields beat Mayhem in November). Miller may have been playing around but Shields’ friends in the ring took it seriously and a brawl ensued. Watch Gus Johnson and CBS lose their minds over this Jason Mayhem Miller brawl incited at Strikeforce in Nashville that was brought to my attention by Michael David Smith at Fanhouse:

Miller may have been messing around but the guy throwing punches and kicks in the left corner of the video clearly wasn’t. MMA already gets a bad name for the violent nature of the sport so this is the last problem it needed on a night where they’re on a major network like CBS. My guess is with their ratings not doing much better than Spike TV, these sorts of incidents will make other networks further reluctant to televise the sport. At least Aoki didn’t break anyone’s arm in the ring this time; he was too busy getting dominated by Gilbert Melendez.
