Johnny Manziel may have thrown an interception in the end zone on Texas A&M’s fourth possession against Alabama on Saturday, but he managed to make an absolutely stunning play during the drive.
The Heisman Trophy winner had a 3rd and 8 situation at the Bama 34 and looked like he was going to be sacked for a loss by Bama DL Jeoffrey Pagan. Somehow he escaped and heaved the ball downfield, where Edward Pope made a 12-yard catch for the first down.
If that didn’t remind you of Eli Manning’s great escape against the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, then I’m not sure what more you could want. What a play by Manziel, and how great was it that Gary Danielson called it a “signature play”?
