Julio Borbon tried to pull off the baseball equivalent of a flop on Thursday, and it did not go well. Borbon entered the San Diego Padres-Chicago Cubs game as a defensive replacement in the 8th inning with the Cubs down 4-2. He was facing Padres reliever Luke Gregerson in the bottom of the inning and had a 1-2 count. Gregerson threw a breaking ball in the dirt that seemed to bounce between Borbon’s feet. After a delayed reaction, Borbon began hopping around as if he had been hit by the pitch. The umpire didn’t buy it. Borbon grounded out two pitches later to end the inning.
