Brent Musburger signs fan’s Katherine Webb poster ‘She’s a 10!’ (Picture)

Brent Musburger is not shying away from the Katherine Webb situation. In fact, he is embracing it.

Musburger was calling the Kansas-Iowa State basketball game in Ames Monday and was approached by a fan who brought a Katherine Webb poster. The fan, Iowa State freshman Matt Mummelthei, showed Musburger the poster, and the announcer happily signed it with a personalized message.

“She’s a 10!” he wrote.

Mummelthei tells Larry Brown Sports that he got the idea to bring a Webb and Honey Badger poster to the game because Musburger “obsessed over” both of them during the last two BCS National Championship Games. He says he spotted Musburger before the game and approached him with the posters.

Mummelthei says he was nervous and worried about approaching Musburger with the poster, but the announcer was laughing and easygoing about it.

“He just loved it,” Mummelthei says of Musburger. “He gladly signed it.”

Musburger said last month that he didn’t think he did anything wrong when he gushed about the beauty queen’s good looks during the BCS National Championship Game. Webb stated that although she hadn’t spoken to Musburger, she appreciated his compliments about her looks. She also recently said she was thankful to him for launching her career, and she even retweeted a picture of the poster.

AJ McCarron calls out Darnell Dockett for flirting with Katherine Webb

Katherine-Webb-AJ-McCarronWhen Katherine Webb first gained national attention after she was shown on television during the BCS National Championship Game, Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett was one of the first people to hit on her. Dockett tweeted his phone number at Webb and then claimed it was supposed to be a direct message.

Last week, Dockett said he would be able to get Webb if he wanted her, but that she isn’t his type of girl. He said he is more into “hood chicks,” but that apparently hasn’t stopped him from flirting with the former Miss Alabama on Twitter. On Friday, Dockett gave Webb another shout-out.

It sounds like AJ McCarron has had enough of the 290-pounder hitting on his girlfriend. The Alabama quarterback called out Dockett with a pair of tweets on Friday night.

Darnell Dockett: I would have gotten Katherine Webb if I really wanted her, but I like ‘hood chicks’

When Katherine Webb gained national fame after ESPN’s Brent Musburger drooled over her during the BCS National Championship Game, Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett was one of the first people to hit on her. Dockett tweeted his phone number at Webb and claimed it was supposed to be a direct message. Now, he says it was all just a joke.

During an interview with Bickley and MJ on XTRA Sports 910 in Phoenix on Wednesday, Dockett insisted he would have gotten Webb if he actually wanted her. The problem is she’s not his type. Wait until you hear what is.

“It’s not that serious,” Dockett explained, via Sports Radio Interviews. “I was just laughing at people responding because people were really thinking that I was gonna put my number on Twitter. … Anybody that knows Darnell Dockett — the real me, not just the football player, not just the guy you see on TV — anyone that knows me personally knows there is never a dull moment in my life. I’m always excited. I’m always thinking of the next gimmick, the next trick.

“And I would have got her if I really wanted her. But I don’t think she’s my type. I’m not into the thinner girls and the modelling thing like that. I like hood chicks. I like girls with a couple stab wounds, bullet holes, been knocked up a few times. … I like girls who, you know, have bad credit when they’re 21.”

This guy never runs out. He also added that he simply wanted to take Webb out to see a few strippers and show her the world outside of Alabama so she can “appreciate what she’s doing.” As we said before, Dockett loves to mess with people. He recently had a field day with all the Manti Te’o stuff, so it’s no surprise that he had to get himself involved when Webb became a nationally-recognized star.

Don’t worry, AJ McCarron — you’re safe for now. Dockett doesn’t want your girl.

Katherine Webb planning a move to New York?

katherine webbKatherine Webb reportedly is planning a move to New York in order to further her modeling career.

The New York Post says that while Webb was in town last week for a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition photoshoot, the model was overheard telling fans that she is planning on moving to New York.

Webb, an Alabama native and Auburn graduate, moved to Los Angeles to pursue a modeling career. She recently talked about moving back to Alabama to be with her boyfriend — Crimson Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron — but if this report is to be believed, that may not be happening. Hopefully it’s not an indication that their relationship is going badly.

Meanwhile, there has been much more buzz about America’s girlfriend than her two-time national championship-winning boyfriend over the past two weeks. I guess that’s America for you.

Brent Musburger doesn’t think he did anything wrong with Katherine Webb

Brent-MusburgerAnnouncer Brent Musburger does not think he did anything wrong when he gushed over the looks of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron’s girlfriend, Katherine Webb, during the BCS National Championship Game last week.

Musburger and analyst Kirk Herbstreit were practically drooling over Webb when ESPN flashed to her in the stands during the first quarter of the game. The video went viral on the Internet, and it helped Webb gain national notoriety.

Though Webb says she was not offended by the remarks, ESPN apologized because they felt Musburger “went too far.” Musburer apparently disagrees.

The 73-year-old broadcaster answered questions from a TMZ reporter inside a Palm Beach, Fla., airport on Tuesday. When he was asked if he felt like his comments were inappropriate, Musburger took a long pause and answered, “no.”

Musburger says he has not spoken with Webb since the incident. He says he feels like she would have become famous without his comments.

When asked about ESPN’s apology, Musburger indicated he felt it was done to appease critics.

“Individuals say what individuals say, and corporations do what corporations do. Obviously, they felt it was the right thing for them to do.”

Musburger was also part of a mini-controversy on Tuesday when many viewers thought he called a female reporter “smoking” as he was signing off from a telecast Monday night. ESPN denied that’s what he said.

Katherine Webb says she is doing SI Swimsuit issue, then deletes tweet

Katherine-Webb-AJ-McCarron

If a tweet that she sent out and then quickly deleted on Thursday is any indication, Katherine Webb may just be getting started. As The Big Lead pointed out, Webb announced on Twitter that she would be shooting with Sports Illustrated in the future. The tweet came down shortly after it was sent, but a tweet doesn’t have to be live for more than a couple seconds to go viral when you have over 250,000 followers.

Our friend Dave Dameshek — among many others — retweeted it.

In all likelihood, someone from Sports Illustrated asked Webb to remove the tweet. We know the former Miss Alabama has canceled interviews and changed her phone number because of the insane amount of popularity she has gained since Monday night, but I’m guessing she didn’t cancel with SI.

You saw how stunned A.J. McCarron was when reporters informed him that LeBron James and 100,000 other people were following his girlfriend on Twitter. I wonder how he feels about his lady appearing in arguably the most famous swimsuit spread in the world.

UPDATE: In an interview with SI’s Jimmy Traina, Webb confirmed she will be doing the Swimsuit Issue.

Katherine Webb reportedly cancels interviews, changes her phone number

Katherine-Webb-AJ-McCarronKatherine Webb is familiar with what life is like in the public spotlight. As someone who was crowned Miss Alabama USA last year, she wasn’t exactly unknown before she became A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend. However, it sounds like the attention Webb is receiving in the wake of Alabama winning the national championship and ESPN’s broadcasters drooling over her has started to take its toll.

According to TMZ, Webb released a statement on Thursday confirming that she had canceled eight interviews but insisting it was not at the request of McCarron. Earlier in the day, there was speculation that the Alabama star was becoming upset that his girlfriend is receiving more attention than he is.

“I want it to be about me and him,” Webb said in the statement. “He’s a guy I can see myself having a real future with.”

Webb said she decided to cancel the interviews because she doesn’t want her relationship with McCarron being viewed as merely a “celebrity status” thing. Remember, Katherine claims she and A.J. met when they were tagged in a mutual tweet and insists she had no idea he was the quarterback of the best college football team in the country.

A report from the NY Post also says Webb has decided to change her phone number. Donald Trump, who knows Webb through their mutual connection with Miss Universe, said the calls have become too much for her.

“She was forced to change her phone number,” Trump reportedly said. “She was getting thousands and thousands of calls. Katherine has to stay grounded now that she’s become a big star.”

McCarron may have just led the Crimson Tide to its third national championship in four years, but Webb is the talk of the town. If A.J. is unable to get past NFL players hitting on his girlfriend and seeing her face on every tabloid magazine in the country, their relationship could be doomed.
