Odom, 34, has been working out lately and a recent report indicated the Clippers would sign him at some point this season. If the team’s players had their way, he wouldn’t be signed back.
TMZ says Clippers players don’t think Odom will be in top playing form this season and that he wouldn’t be anything more than a distraction. Some players also have questions about whether Odom will be able to return to his pre-crack form (there were reports all summer about him being hooked on crack and other substances).
Clippers executives would be wise to listen to what the players reportedly feel. Odom didn’t add much to the team last season, and he wouldn’t have much time to get in shape to contribute this season. He’s not worth all the drama he’ll bring to the team.
