Lindsey Vonn and Elin Nordegren are reportedly close friends

Elin Nordegren Lindsey Vonn

In the words of the great Steve Sitfler, “You two used to bang, and you two are banging now, so this must be awkward.” When it comes to Tiger Woods’ ex-wife Elin Nordegren and his current girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, that is apparently not the case.

According to Us Weekly, Nordegren and Vonn get along just fine and have even become close friends.

“After meeting her, (Elin) found she actually liked her,” a source reportedly told the gossip publication. “You’d think it would be weird, but Elin loves Lindsey and they talk all the time,” the source tells Us. “Elin likes that Lindsey is a strong woman.”

Nordegren is said to have gotten close to Vonn because she wanted to get to know her if she was going to be around her children — 6-year-old Sam and 5-year-old Charlie — a lot. Not only do they get along, but the entire crew reportedly went on vacation together and Elin and Vonn ventured off for a few drinks while Tiger stayed with the kids.

“Lindsey is really good for Tiger. She’s strong, opinionated, and keeps him in line,” the source added. “Elin found that they are very similar and have a lot in common. They laugh and talk like they have been girlfriends forever.”

It sounds like Elin and Lindsey have come a long way from the days where Vonn sat in the car for an hour to avoid having a run-in with the Swedish beauty. There have been rumors that Nordegren believes Vonn is a good influence on Tiger, but it’s still pretty surprising to hear that they are BFFs.

Good for them. That’s probably best for the kids.

Lindsey Vonn inspired by Bode Miller’s success

Lindsey VonnLindsey Vonn is 29 and will be 33 when the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea roll around. Sadly, she was unable to compete in the Games at Sochi because of a knee injury, but despite her age, she has some faith heading into the 2018 Games thanks to Bode Miller.

Miller is 36 and became the oldest alpine skier to win an Olympics medal when he won bronze in the super-G.

“It gives me a little confidence going into Pyeongchang in four years. I’ll be 33. If Bode can do it, I can do it,” Vonn said during an appearance on “Today” per For The Win.

Skiing is no different from most sports in that most athletes are at their peak in their 20s. In order to win an Olympics medal, you have to be one of the top three in the world at that particular event. As athletes age, their bodies lose strength, recover slower from injuries, and their reaction times worsen. All of these issues contribute to most Olympians — especially ones in high-intensity sports like skiing — from being able to compete at the highest of levels as they get older. Not only that, but most skiers have blown out their knees so many times by the time they’re 30, competing is less realistic. If anything will prevent Vonn from competing in the next Olympics, my money would be on another knee injury because those are so common.

Lindsey Vonn spent Valentine’s Day alone without Tiger Woods

Lindsey Vonn Rhapsody

Tiger Woods is over in India playing golf, which means his girlfriend, Lindsey Vonn, spent Valentine’s Day alone.

She didn’t seem to relish her alone time, which became even weirder when she shared a photo of the magazine she was reading, which featured a picture of her on the cover.

That has to be a weird feeling right? Reading a magazine with yourself on the cover. That’s pretty much when you know you’ve made it. At least it should distract her from thinking about what kind of girls Tiger flew into India to join him without her around.

Lindsey Vonn rips skinny models, says they are fat

Lindsey VonnLindsey Vonn may be an Olympic skier, gold medalist, rich, famous and dating Tiger Woods, but we actually do have something in common: we’re not too crazy about super skinny models.

In a recent interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Vonn ripped into skinny models. Vonn called the models unhealthy and actually said they’re fat, which seems like a contradiction. But she explained her stance.

“I’ve been to a lot of photo shoots and I see these girls that are just really thin. They’re not healthy. They don’t work out. Health — that’s one of the reasons I am out tonight. Just in general staying active and being healthy is important,” Vonn said.

“It may look good in a magazine but it’s not actually healthy. And girls who are that skinny are actually fat. You can see the cellulite on their legs and on their butts,” she said. “You know I have cellulite too but I go to the gym and I try to eat healthy. I think that’s a better model for girls to look up to than skinny people who need to eat more.”

We agree, Lindsey. Strong isn’t the new skinny, but skinny certainly isn’t my taste.

Vonn may not be able to ski in the Winter Games in Sochi because of her knee injury, but she is still managing to make some headlines with her comments.

Lindsey Vonn hired by NBC as Olympics correspondent

Lindsey Vonn

Lindsey Vonn won’t be hitting the slopes for the Winter Games in Sochi because of a knee injury, but you’ll still be able to see plenty of her on NBC.

According to Sports Illustrated media reporter Richard Deitsch, Vonn has been hired by NBC to serve as a correspondent during the Olympics. Deitsch says Vonn will report from the US and will be a correspondent for “Today” and NBC Sports.

Vonn, 29, has competed in three different Olympiads, so Sochi would have been her fourth. She partially tore the ACL in her right knee in November and re-injured it in December to knock her out of competition. NBC knows she is one of the most popular and well known Winter Olympians, which is why they want her being a part of their coverage.

Tiger Woods, Lindsey Vonn reportedly ‘at odds’ over Tiger’s unwillingness to travel to Olympics

Lindsey Vonn Tiger WoodsLindsey Vonn has been extremely visible at most of the golf tournaments Tiger Woods has played in over the past year or so. Now that it is her turn to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, one would assume Tiger will return the favor and be there to support his better half. That is apparently not the case, and it could be leading to tension.

According to the National Enquirer, Woods and Vonn are “at odds” because Tiger intends to play in multiple golf tournaments while Lindsey is competing in Russia. Vonn recently joked that she is unsure if Woods would be flying to Russia because he doesn’t like the cold, but she is reportedly angry behind closed doors.

“Lindsey is demanding to be considered an equal, but she thinks Tiger still sees her only as a pretty accessory and doesn’t take her skiing career seriously,” a source reportedly told the Enquirer. “Lindsey told Tiger, ‘I supported you this season. Now, it’s your turn to support me in public. I’m not just your cheerleader — I’m a world class athlete too!’”

The source also claimed that the arguments between the two have been “very nasty.”

While we have no way of knowing if the report is true, it is worth noting that Vonn has expressed frustration in the past over being viewed as simply Tiger’s girlfriend. She has her own athletic career and clearly wants people to acknowledge that. Time will tell if one of those people happens to be her boyfriend.

Lindsey Vonn: Tiger Woods is ‘dorky-goofy’

Lindsey Vonn Tiger WoodsVery few people think of Tiger Woods as a “goofy” guy. There’s a reason Tiger looked hilariously awkward last month when he and Matt Kuchar busted out the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” handshake at The President’s Cup. That rare moment of light-heartedness likely didn’t surprise Lindsey Vonn.

Vonn discussed her relationship with Woods on Katie Couric’s show earlier this week. The way she described Tiger may make him a little less intimidating when he wears his red shirt on Sundays.

“He’s funny,” Vonn said when asked what Tiger is like as a person. “He’s really laid back. He’s a great guy, always making jokes, very competitive just like me. We have very similar personalities. If there’s one thing I can say it’s that he’s funny. He’s goofy, like dorky-goofy.

“He’s probably not going to be that excited that I just said that.”

I hate to have to go here, but this is the same Tiger Woods who was bagged sexting things like “I’m Blasian” with smiley faces next to it during his infamous sex scandal days. He may be incredibly serious on the golf course, but in a way we kind of knew he was dorky.
