The Atlanta Falcons did not play a whole lot of defense against the New York Jets on Monday night. When one of the highlights of your stunning 30-28 loss at home involves a punter laying out a coach, you know there wasn’t much that went right. At least Matt Bosher got his licks in.
Bosher, who is in his third year with Atlanta, may have prevented a touchdown toward the end of the third quarter when he dragged Jets return man Jeremy Kerley down with a horse collar tackle. Bosher was penalized 15 yards for the play, but he didn’t seem to care. He was so fired up about getting in on the action that he got up and speared a New York coach.
The Jets got the last laugh with a game-winning field goal as time expired. And the Falcons fell to 1-4 and are already watching their playoff hopes slip away. All around, it was not a good night for Atlanta.
