Matt Harvey and model Anne Vyalitsyna are still dating

Matt Harvey Tommy John surgery

Remember how New York Mets ace pitcher Matt Harvey boasted that he wanted to model his dating life after Derek Jeter? Well maybe he’s not making as much progress in that realm as he planned. That’s not to say that Harvey is not dating famous supermodels like Jeter, but it is to say that he appears to be with the same woman and not playing the field.

Back in May we shared that Harvey was dating SI swimsuit model Anne Vyalitsyna. The two must still be together — or at least very close — because Vyalitsyna was there to pick up Harvey following his Tommy John surgery this week. She also joked about him being wheeled out in that nice recliner, saying that Harvey was “pimping his ride.”

Anne V. was also out at Petco Park in San Diego to watch Harvey’s Mets play in August. The two hung out with the Bryan Brothers a few days later:

Matt Harvey is only here to talk about Qualcomm, Dan Patrick. Not Tommy John surgery

New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey gave an incredibly uncomfortable injury to Dan Patrick on Wednesday. It was so bad I was literally cringing while listening to it in the same way I cringe when watching that scene in “Swingers” where Mike calls Nikki and leaves like eight straight messages. It was that painful.

Harvey joined the show to promote something for Qualcomm, but the guy just wouldn’t play along with the questions. I’m not sure if he didn’t think Patrick would give him an opportunity to do his plug — which Patrick would have — or if he just didn’t want to talk about the possibility of Tommy John surgery. But he didn’t want to answer questions, that’s for sure. And answering questions generally is a requirement for an interview. The result was a painful, pathetic four and a half minute conversation that only made Harvey look terrible.

As for who Harvey is dating, it used to be SI swimsuit model Anne Vyalitsyna. Rumor has it she dumped him after listening to that terrible interview. By the way, we still say Harvey ends up having the surgery.

Jesus Harvey, what happened to the guy from the fun bathrobe meme?

Mitch Williams: Matt Harvey could have had torn UCL since high school

The nightmare scenario for New York Mets fans happened on Monday. An MRI revealed that star pitcher Matt Harvey has a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow.

Matt Harvey MetsHarvey, who started the All-Star Game for the NL at Citi Field this summer, is likely to wait a few weeks before deciding whether to have surgery. His options would be rehabbing and hoping that the tear improves, or undergoing Tommy John surgery, which would likely keep him out for the entire 2014 season.

Harvey has said he wants to try avoiding surgery.

Former Philadelphia Phillies closer Mitch Williams thinks that waiting and seeing if the elbow improves is a viable option for Harvey. Why? Because he thinks it’s possible that Harvey has been pitching with the elbow problem since high school.

Matt Harvey wants to model his dating life after Derek Jeter’s

Matt-Harvey-MetsNew York Mets ace Matt Harvey could be the next big thing in New York. In addition to posting a 7-2 record and a 2.35 ERA in 19 starts this season, Harvey also has a tremendous sense of humor. And it seems like the ladies love him.

Harvey, who has dated this beautiful Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, realizes he is quickly reaching celebrity status in The Big Apple. That lifestyle has been tough for people like Alex Rodriguez to handle, which is why Harvey told Men’s Journal he is trying to emulate New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter.

“That guy is the model,” Harvey told Men’s Journal. “I mean, first off, let’s just look at the women he’s dated. Obviously, he goes out – he’s meeting these girls somewhere – but you never hear about it. That’s where I want to be.”

Jeter’s ability to avoid headlines off the field given his community standing has been unmatched in professional sports history. He has dated some of the most beautiful actresses and models in the world, yet — like Harvey mentioned — tabloids are hardly ever to come up with enough information to write a story about the future Hall of Famer.

Make no mistake about it: Harvey plans to enjoy his life off the baseball diamond and already has his sights set on his first massive contract.

“Yes, I’m gonna go out,” he said. “If I was locked up in my house all week, I don’t know what I’d be like on the baseball field. No matter what, New York is now my home. I could buy a place now, but I’ve gotta wait for that $200 million contract. If I’m going to buy an apartment, it has to be the best apartment in the city.”

Jeter has achieved the impossible, but he has done so by staying out of trouble. Aside from the occasional story about him trading memorabilia for one-night stands, his personal life has remained largely under wraps. Harvey is wise to try to model his personal life after Jeter’s, but it’s probably a lot more work than he expects.

Matt Harvey and Jimmy Fallon play awesome joke on New Yorkers (Video)

Matt-Harvey-Jimmy-FallonJimmy Fallon used New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey to help him take a page out of Jimmy Kimmel’s book earlier this week, and the results were fantastic. In a similar segment to Kimmel’s “Lie Witness News,” Harvey took to the streets of New York to ask Mets fans for their thoughts on Matt Harvey. As you might expect, many of them failed to realize they were answering Harvey’s questions about Harvey.

The reactions weren’t quite as funny as the ones we saw from these Miami Heat fans last month, but they were pretty priceless. People get nervous when cameras are around, which is why many of them didn’t notice the words “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” written on the microphone. We’re glad they didn’t.

Fantastic effort from Harvey, who did a great job of keeping a straight face and messing with people.

Clayton Kershaw ‘hurt’ by Bruce Bochy’s comments about All-Star Game starter

clayton-kershawSan Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy, who is managing the National League squad at the 2013 MLB All-Star Game, announced on Monday that Matt Harvey will be starting on the mound for the NL. When speaking to reporters about the decision, Bochy insisted it had nothing to do with the fact that the game is being held in New York.

“It wouldn’t have mattered what city we were playing in with the year he’s had,” Bochy said, via the LA Times.

Harvey has pitched tremendously throughout the first half, posting a 7-2 record with a 2.35 ERA and striking out 147 batters. Bochy likely made his comments to make sure Harvey gets enough credit and is not just seen as a pitcher who got the start by default in his home ballpark.

Bochy also pointed out that Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw and St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Adam Wainwright were candidates to earn the starting job, but his remark about Harvey starting no matter where the game was seemed to upset Kershaw.

“It hurts,” Kershaw said according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. “Yeah, it hurts.”

Kershaw also noted that he found out about the decision while watching TV. The 25-year-old is 8-6 and has posted an incredible 1.98 ERA this season. I doubt anyone would have been surprised if he was named the starter but, again, I think Bochy was just trying to prove he did not give Harvey the honor strictly because the game is at Citi Field.

We’re talking about the All-Star Game here, not Game 1 of the World Series. Bochy certainly wasn’t trying to offend anyone. Fans are probably glad Kershaw cares about the event, but he could afford to lighten up a bit.

Matt Harvey naked in a white bath robe launches dirty memes

New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey was photographed for ESPN the Magazine’s Body Issue, which is due out next week. The second-year pitcher has dominated this season, going 7-2 with a 2.27 ERA in 123 innings. His hot start was enough to make him a person of interest for ESPN’s shoot, and the magazine sent out a tease of what his photos will look like. You can see that tease below:

Though Harvey was covered by the robe in that photo, he will be naked in the magazine.

“It was all hanging out,” Harvey told the New York Post last week. “It won’t be hanging out in the pictures, but I was definitely hanging out during the shoot.”

Harvey already told The Post he plans on taking heat from his teammates for the shoot. I bet he didn’t realize how much heat he’d be taking from the online crowd.

Posing with his “sup girl?” face, Harvey’s tease photo naturally became a meme. Most of them contained strong sexual innuendo. Some are pretty dirty. We’ve posted them below:
