Micky Arison ‘shocked and disappointed’ LeBron James left

Micky-Arison-LeBron-James

The Miami Heat are going to end up being the biggest losers of the NBA offseason, and that is really no fault of their own. If LeBron was willing to return to Cleveland despite the letter Cavs owner Dan Gilbert wrote about him four years ago, this has probably been his plan for quite some time. Still, Heat owner Micky Arison was “shocked” by The Decision 2.0.

That’s basically about as well as Arison could have handled it. Of course he is disappointed that he just lost his best player, which could ultimately lead to Chris Bosh leaving and the Heat becoming a below average team. Some would even argue that LeBron wanted to stick it to Arison after the owner refused to spend last offseason to fill out Miami’s bench.

Whatever the case, every owner in the NBA must have learned something from Gilbert’s temper tantrum. The NBA is a business. Business is best when handled with class.

Micky Arison: 100 percent chance Heat keep LeBron, Wade and Bosh

Dwyane Wade LeBron James Chris Bosh

Miami Heat owner Micky Arison believes there is a 100 percent chance the team keeps LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh next season.

James, Wade and Bosh have the ability to opt out of their contracts and become free agents, where they could seek contracts from other teams. But Arison believes the team has an excellent chance of retaining all three players, who have combined to lead the Heat to three straight NBA Finals and back-to-back championships since joining forces.

According to the Palm Beach Post, when asked Monday by 790 The Ticket to give a percentage chance of keeping the “Big Three” with the Heat, Arison responded, “100 percent.”

Arison also said he hoped “it’s not gonna be a challenge at all” to keep the players together.

Earlier this season, LeBron said he couldn’t see himself leaving Miami. If the players opt out of their current deals, it could be to sign longer-term deals with the Heat to ensure more security.

Pat Riley and Heat fans everywhere are hoping that Arison’s words will reflect the future. I know I can’t see LeBron going elsewhere.

Miami Heat owner Micky Arison has seen his investments pan out nicely over the past two seasons. After coming up just short in their first season together, the Heat’s big three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have now won back-to-back championships. Arison was in an understandably great mood after Game 7 on Thursday night, but what the hell was he drinking out of?

Back at the start of the playoffs, SB Nation introduced us to a new trend that goes along with the Heat’s “White Hot” theme that they have been sticking to throughout the postseason. Moet & Chandon, one of the world’s most prestigious champagne companies, announced a partnership with the team in April that made Moet Ice Imperial the official champagne of the Heat. The plan was for the champagne to become a staple in the AmericanAirlines Arena, with courtside celebrities sipping out of the official goblet you see Arison drinking from.
