Mike Tyson: Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. should be in jail for not fighting each other

Everyone wants to see Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao square off in the ring, but with each passing day it becomes less likely that it will ever happen. A variety of excuses like a lack of pay-per-view money or an unwillingness to split the fight money 50-50 have been used by both fighters. For boxing fans, the back-and-forth is one of the most frustrating dynamics in the history of the sport. Mike Tyson even believes it has been so annoying that they should be thrown in jail for it.

“Listen if I was President I would throw (Pacquiao and Mayweather) in jail if they didn’t fight,” Tyson said during an interview with WXYT in Detroit. “I’d have them arrested. You can’t do that but that’s what I would try to do. I’d be like ‘these guys need to get locked up and find a new profession until they get their heads clear.’”

For once, I actually almost agree with Mike — aside from the jail part of course. The reasons these two have come up with to not fight one another are embarrassing. The entire boxing world wants it to happen, yet Pacquiao and Mayweather continue to annoy all of us by talking trash and avoiding the issue.

On a completely separate note, Tyson was also asked if plans were being discussed to make a Hangover 3 movie: “I was told there was one and I would like to participate in it but we will see what happens guys.” From the things I have heard about the second one, they should just leave the legend alone.

Mike Tyson curses during MSG interview (Video)

Mike Tyson really just can’t help himself sometimes. The former boxer is heavily medicated these days and that is supposed to make him safe for interviews. Just one thing: beware if you’re interviewing him live, because he might get you in trouble with the FCC. Not only does Tyson get really raunchy sometimes, but he’s also been known to cuss like he did Wednesday. Asked by MSG’s Jill Martin what his dumbest purchase was, he said “Anything I ever had. Anything I’ve ever had was dumb. Dumb s***.”

At least Tyson knows he screwed up because he immediately slapped his head. It’s OK Mike — this is the sort of thing we’ve come to expect from you.

Radio Host Dino Costa Says Mike Tyson Is Dead … Mike Tyson Says Not so Fast, My Friend!

A knucklehead sports radio host for Mad Dog radio on Sirius/XM named Dino Costa shared a rumor on Twitter Tuesday night saying Mike Tyson had died in a car crash. Naturally the rumor began circulating pretty quickly before Tyson (or the ghost updating his Twitter account) countered the news saying “My friend called to see if I’m ok. There is a rumor I was in an accident. Thankfully I am doing well.”

Here’s what Costa tweeted to start the mess:

Well buddy, if you’re stressing this has not been confirmed, then don’t throw it out there. That’s pretty simple. You don’t mess around when it comes to proclaiming someone’s death.

Now here’s the worst part. Costa, who undeniably was trying to break some news, went on to blame the rumor on the person who called into his radio station.

Mike Tyson Doesn’t Think Glen Rice Banged Sarah Palin Hard Enough

Just when you thought all aspects of the Sarah Palin-Glen Rice love story had been explored, we forget that Mike Tyson had yet to weigh in. Iron Mike did just that as a guest on Gridlock KWWN Espn Radio 1100/98.9FM with Paul Howard, Mitch Moss, and Seat Williams Thursday.

Audio from the interview is posted below, as well as Tyson’s best comments. We typically keep things fairly PG-13 here at LBS, but this interview definitely would earn us an R-rating at the least. Mike Tyson appeared to be living out his own sexual fantasies envisioning Glen Rice and Sarah Palin together. This dude was getting really excited.

Mike Tyson: James Toney Looked Horrible, Had No Respect

James Toney got destroyed by Randy Couture in his MMA debut at UFC 118 last month. Toney was unprepared to fight in the Octagon and was done as soon as he was taken down to the ground. This fact was evident to anyone watching, including Iron Mike Tyson himself.

Tyson, who appeared on The Ultimate Fighter, told the Canadian Press “You have to admit, Toney looked horrible. He looked slow. He didn’t look like a seasoned, conditioned athlete. You only had to look at his body structure. No way, Toney didn’t get ready to fight a real, professional athlete like Randy is. It was ridiculous. He had no respect for Randy.”

Tyson, ever the voice of sanity, said a boxer could succeed in MMA but would have to learn to wrestle and grapple first. He’s exactly right. Many MMA fighters have boxing backgrounds and all have to learn how to box. But that’s the thing — boxing is just one aspect of fighting in mixed martial arts. Without a wrestling and grappling background, you’re not going to do well in a fight.

Leave it to Tyson to say something that makes sense. Now if he says Toney should retire altogether, he’d be making even more sense.

Mike Tyson No Longer Thinks Highly of Himself, Thinks He’s a ‘Waste’

We’re certainly used to this type of tone from the erratic Mike Tyson. What we’re not really accustomed to is Iron Mike directing his typical degrading language and vulgar insults toward himself. It would appear that the man who once considered himself to be untouchable — even after embarrassing himself against Evander Holyfield — is no longer overflowing with confidence.

Iron Mike recently sat down for an interview with Details Magazine that will appear in their August issue. He provided Details with the memorable material we’ve come to expect, while also giving us a glimpse into how his opinion of himself has changed since the passing of his 4-year-old daughter. Here’s some of Mike Tyson’s interview with Details Magazine, courtesy of Out of Bounds:

The first stage of my life was just a whole bunch of selfishness. Just a whole bunch of gifts to myself and people who didn’t necessarily deserve it. Now I’m 44, and I realize that my whole life is just a fucking waste. Greatest man on the planet? I wasn’t half the man I thought I was. So if there’s a big plan now, it’s just to give — it’s selflessness, caring for the people who deserve it. Because I think I’m a pig. I have this uncanny ability to look at myself in the mirror and say, “This is a pig. You are a f***ing piece of s***.”

Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield to Fight for a Third Time?

Evander Holyfield recently revealed that Mike Tyson’s people have approached him about fighting Iron Mike once again. Call me crazy, call me strange, call me in a Mike Tyson frame of mind, but my ears perk up to the news that Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield are considering a third fight. The details as told by Holyfield:

“Mike had Jeff Fenech, who’s been training him, call me a few months ago. Jeff says Mike wants to fight me again – but he needs to know if I would agree to it. I said, ‘It all depends on what they gonna give us – because I’m gonna catch a lot of flak if I say I’m fighting Mike Tyson again. I’ve already said I don’t want to fight Mike no more’. Jeff says, ‘What if Mike gets in proper shape?’ I told him that’s OK but I can’t be part of it if Mike’s going to pull out. Jeff said, ‘The main thing Mike wants to know is if you would be willing to fight him again?’ I said, ‘Yeah, if the price is right, I probably would’.”

That’s all I need to hear — if the price is right, Oldfield would do it. There’s a shock. A dude who returns to the ring multiple times to fight nobodies when he’s over the hill telling us he’d fight for money. Mike Tyson is a trainwreck in our society whose erratic behavior is nearly unparalleled. Who wouldn’t want to watch the dude climb back in the ring again against The Real Deal. I’m totally down. Besides, not like Oldfield doesn’t have a second ear, right?
