Phoenix Suns Sol Patrol Member Nick Corrales Dunks Himself (Video)

Trampoline dunks are always a great way to keep the fans occupied during timeouts and breaks at a basketball game. As fans, we’re normally in awe of how much practice it must take for these little acrobats to be able to spring themselves off a trampoline and dunk without breaking their necks. A member of the Phoenix Suns Sol Patrol came dangerously close to doing just that on Wednesday night.

The young man, whom Deadspin informed us is an ASU student named Nick Corrales, caught a little too much air on the trampoline and ended up dunking the ball and himself through the basket. You have to see it to believe it, so check it out:

Corrales is one lucky guy.  If he had eaten one more meal the day that happened, they would probably have been plucking him out of the hoop with a cherry picker.

Blake Griffin Does it Again With Alley-Oop Against Timberwolves (Video)

Once again, Blake Griffin shows why he was the No. 1 pick a year ago and the front-runner for the NBA Rookie of the Year. In last night’s Clippers victory over the Timberwolves, Griffin scored 22 points — none more impressive than these two:

Griffin added 10 rebounds to record his sixth-straight double-double. This dunk was one of three high-flying slams on the night by Griffin — bringing his season total to somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,000 highlight reel plays. A guy Griffin’s size — 6 feet 10 inches, 250 pounds — shouldn’t be able to  do what he’s able to do, but he does it. Let’s keep our finger crossed in hopes that he does in fact participate in the dunk contest.

J.R. Smith Posterizes Gary Neal with Insane Dunk (Video)

Usually when I think J.R. Smith, I think of nothing but three pointers. J.R. can get hot from beyond the arc, but he also throws up a lot of crazy shots that just make you want to shake your head. After seeing the highlight of his dunk last night against the Spurs, maybe Smith can make a case that his NBA 2K11 rating should be higher.  Check out this video of J.R. Smith posterizing Gary Neal, as pointed out by SI Hot Clicks.

No way you can’t respect that.  Rather than throwing it up like most people do with under a second left in the quarter, J.R. realized he was on national television and decided to take flight.  The result was one of the best dunks of 2010.

Blake Griffin Dunks on Knicks Russian Timofey Mozgov (Video) – Teabags Him!

Knicks center Timofey Mozgov is a 24-year-old rookie center from Russia. He’s only played 14 games and 168 minutes in his young NBA career, but he officially was baptized on Saturday night. Clippers rookie forward Blake Griffin went for 44 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists against the Knicks and had several monster slams. His dunk over the 7’1″ 250lb center is a must-see video if there ever was one. Check out the video of Blake Griffin dunking over Knicks center Timofey Mozgov:

That was straight up nuts to the face action. Griffin got up so high he had to throw the ball down through the cylinder from a few feet away. I don’t think I’ve seen a sicker dunk since Vince Carter jumped over the dude in the Olympics. Yeah, the Clippers may have lost that game and are now 1-11, but they won the street cred battle with that dunk. I guess that’s what they call a Russian teabag party?

Brent Petway Posterizes Rob Parker

While this may not be as impressive as P.J. Hairston’s 75-foot no-look shot that I recently posted, it’s certainly more embarrassing if you’re sportswriter and radio host Rob Parker.  Parker was dunked on so badly by former Michigan basketball player Brent Petway during a pick-up game at Braylon Edwards‘ fundraiser event that he was jokingly taken off on a stretcher.  At least when Nate Robinson dunked over Dwight Howard to win the Slam Dunk Competition Howard consented to getting posterized.  Check out the video of Rob Parker getting dunked on by Brent Petway and being taken off on a stretcher, courtesy of You Been Blinded:

I’m sure that’s not where Parker expected his face to end up during a friendly basketball game.

Video: Dwyane Wade Monster Dunk on Emeka Okafor

Just like I thought they would, the Miami Heat have bounced back this year and are back in the playoff hunt after stinking up the joint last year. But what do you expect from a team that was missing its best player much of the year, one who was at half strength when he did play? Dwyane Wade is back and healthy this year, leading the league in scoring, and leading the Heat to a 12-9 record. And Wade really did it all on Monday night against the Bobcats, including embarrassing Emeka Okafor with this dunk:

The dunk is the best part, but it doesn’t show that on the other end Wade out-jumped Jared Dudley for the rebound in order to get the ball and bring it down the court. 41 points, 8 rebounds, nearly 29 points per game, I’d say Wade is back.

Video: Justin Mason Dunks on Luke Harangody, Posterized

This was easily one of the best highlights of the day in Maui. Texas and Notre Dame squared off in an excellent battle between two highly-ranked teams. Notre Dame won a nail-biter, with Luke Harangody going 29 and 13 as usual. Despite his strong performance, he did have one embarrassing moment — Justin Mason of Texas absolutely posterized him with a fierce dunk. Check it:

This video also shows a good message — basketball and sports aren’t about the highlights, but the outcome. Mason may get on the reels for that dunk, but Notre Dame got the W and that’s most important. Let’s not forget that. (Still, it was an awesome jam!)
