Shane Mosley Forced to Give Wife Championship Belts in Divorce

Divorces can be messy, and they are often associated with the stigma that women take men to the cleaners when the process is completed.  Obviously not all divorces are that simple, but any person who heard about Shane Mosley and the split-up he had with his wife, Jin, would likely believe that is the case.

I am by no stretch of the imagination assuming Mosley was a good husband and deserved to be treated kindly during the divorce process, but the man can’t even keep his championship belts?  According to TMZ who obtained a copy of Mosley and his ex-wife’s divorce settlement, she gets to keep all three.  Each of their three children will be given one of the belts when they turn 18.

Jin also gets half of Shane’s fight purses that were held during their marriage and half of the 854,410 American Express points they accumulated while they were married.  We know Mosley is a quitter, but how did he let this happen? It sounds like the only thing Jin didn’t take from Mosley was his weird tattoo.  My guess is it’s only because she didn’t want.

Floyd Mayweather: Shane Mosley Advised Getting Manny Pacquiao Drug Tested

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Victor Ortiz kicked off a tour to publicize their September 17th fight with press conferences in LA and New York last week. The big story to emerge from the New York conference was Mayweather saying he absolutely wants to fight Manny Pacquiao. One of the stories to emerge from the LA press conference was Mayweather sharing that Shane Mosley, Pacquiao’s most recent opponent, advised Floyd to ensure he has Manny drug tested prior to their fight.

Mayweather wouldn’t reveal who reached out to whom with the conversation, but the contents are not a surprise. Mayweather told reporters “Shane Mosley, all he said was ‘You know what Floyd? If I were you, I would make him take the test.’ Especially saying before he went into the fight, he should have made him take the test.”

We all know the reason Shane Mosley didn’t ask for a drug test prior to the fight — all he cared about was cashing in on a huge payday; what happened in the ring was inconsequential.

You may recall that in May, Manny Pacquiao had to issue a denial statement after Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr. publicized a “story” that said Pacquiao was using performance-enhancing drugs. Knowing that, it’s no surprise Mosley made the suggestion to Floyd.

Demanding Pacquiao take Olympic-style drug testing is nothing new for Floyd. The talks for their potential fight stalled in 2009 when Pacquiao would not agree to Mayweather’s testing demands. As I said then and as I’ll repeat now, if Pacquiao doesn’t have anything to hide then drug testing should not be a problem. But the last person who should get involved with these conversations is Shane Mosley. Not only is he a cheater, but he also didn’t care about drug testing as long as he was making millions.

Video: Shane Mosley Wanted to Quit Against Manny Pacquiao After 9th Round

Anyone who shelled out the $55 to watch Shane Mosley run from Manny Pacquiao for 12 rounds last month knows he was only there to collect a paycheck (a fat one at that). It will probably tick you off even more knowing that Mosley wanted his corner to stop the fight after the 9th round. Check out this video from Showtime Sports:

Examiner says that exchange took place either before or after the 10th round, and it appears the ring card lady is holding up a 10, making me believe this was before the 10th. Showtime sent out this teaser to try and entice people to watch the final Pacquiao-Mosley Fight Camp 360 episode Saturday evening as a lead-in to their Glen Johnson-Carl Froch bout.

I’m sure they had the clearance from Mosley to use any material they dig up, but I’m guessing Shane will probably be ticked off that this became public. It’s not like he’ll be fighting anyone else, but this is just a blow to his already harmed reputation, not to mention his ego. Then again, at least he and Oscar De La Hoya have something else in common. I also wonder what Shane’s hot girlfriend will think of it.

Boxing Has Lost the Magic it Once Had, It’s Been Passed by MMA

Do you happen to remember a sage truism given to you by a parent, trusted loved one, or fortune cookie that came along with a restaurant check? A penny saved is a penny earned. Either I was sick on one of the many days my mom was dispensing clichés or was too weak from overfeeding on Kung Pao to muster the strength to crack open that V-shaped bearer of wisdom/empty calories to take in that luminous advice. Between holey pockets, incline benches at the gym (yes, I workout), and the random, shifty valet attendant, I have lost more pennies than I can count. The most recent example of money lost was what I spent to bear witness to the spectacle that was the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley fight.

In fact, for the pleasure of watching that fight in public, I failed to save 2000 pennies. I should have taken Andrew Jackson’s accusing stare from the $20 bill I handed over to get in as a sign that maybe the money would have been best served being invested in soybeans, or at least a contentious game of bingo. Instead, for the first time in years, I gave boxing another shot. Lured by the prospect of seeing one of the quickest, most athletic politicians the Philippines’ Congress has ever known — I’ve heard of a punch card ballot, but this is ridiculous — against 39-year-old Shane Mosley, who was trying for another shot at glory against the WBO welterweight champion. To Pacquiao’s credit, they say politics is not a spectator sport … and they’re right.

Manny Pacquiao Issues Denial Statement Regarding Rumor of Steroid Injection

Manny Pacquiao has issued a statement in response to a report alleging his steroid use. The report was given credibility when it was shared on twitter by boxers Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley Thursday.

The report first appeared on May 3rd on a gambling website and it says a former sparring partner of Pacquiao used to inject Manny with steroids. The report alleges that Pacquiao began using steroids in the lead up to his fight with Oscar De La Hoya because he needed to overcome the size difference between the men. They say the former sparring partner issued the interview in a “top secret location” in Las Vegas. As if that Austin Powers image doesn’t give you enough reason to laugh, the fact that there’s no real source to the report should crack you up.

Anyway, nothing would have happened with this “report” if Shane Mosley hadn’t made something of it. Think about it — this “report” was published on May 3rd yet nobody had heard about it until Mosley tweeted it. Mosley wrote Thursday:

Pacquiao ex-sparring partner came out a couple days ago stating that he would inject him w steroids – since Ricky fight look that up … These are not my words it comes from a article And his sparring partner but if it is true!!!! Than what do you say please google”

Then Mosley added that Pacquiao hit him harder than he had been hit his entire career. Floyd Mayweather Jr. caught wind of his report and he encouraged his nearly 1.2 million followers on twitter to go read it. The report seems so phony I won’t bother linking to it. But after Mosley and Floyd started to spread the report, Pacquiao’s camp decided to respond by issuing a statement:

Shane Mosley’s Girlfriend Is Bella Gonzalez (I’m not saying she’s a Golddigger …)

Sugar Shane Mosley was separated from Jin, his wife of six years, in 2009. They divorced soon thereafter but Mosley wasted little time finding himself a new lady. He’s now with Bella Gonzalez whom we’ve learned is also a model. It wasn’t until I saw Fight Camp 360 on CBS that I first saw Bella. If you were watching Shane’s fight Saturday evening against Manny Pacquiao, you probably also saw her ringside. Here are more pictures of the young lady.

Manny Pacquiao in Minor Car Accident, Shane Mosley Fight Still on (UPDATE)

Though Manny Pacquiao seems to have superhuman powers in the ring, we know he’s as vulnerable as the rest of population outside of it. In fact, TMZ reports that Pac Man was involved in a car collision Saturday prior to his fight with Shane Mosley.

“Sources close to Pacquiao tell TMZ he was traveling in a fleet of cars after church today, when one of Manny’s security vehicles collided with the car carrying Manny.

We’re told Pacquiao is back at his hotel now, where his trainer, Freddie Roach, checked him out. According to our source, Pacquiao is just a little shaken up … but he’s okay to go for tonight.”

Though the news seems dramatic, it appears as if this was nothing other than a minor fender bender. Still, given how superstitious fighters are, you don’t want anything messing with your routine. Something like a minor car accident has the potential to throw off a fighter’s rhythm, and we can only hope that’s not the case with Pac Man.

What’s odd is after watching the final Fight Camp 360 episode earlier in the day, it was shocking to watch the way Pacquiao’s fleet of cars caravaned from LA to Las Vegas for the fight. I figured they would fly out there but they didn’t, and it made me think “Aren’t they worried about a potential car accident?” It’s so strange that the same day I saw that and thought it, it actually happened.

UPDATE: Lance Pugmire of the LA Times cites a Pacquiao publicist who called the incident a “tap.”
