Cardinals wore tacky tuxedos for their road trip to LA (Pictures)

The St. Louis Cardinals decided to dress up for their short road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles on Thursday. Even though it looks like they were headed to a costume party, the actual theme for the trip was “tacky tuxedos.” As you can tell, some of those were pretty ugly looking outfits.

Here’s a rundown of what some of the players were wearing:

Jason Motte went camo, Allen Craig had a leopard print trim on his white jacket, Marc Rzepczynski was in all red, Yadier Molina had a plaid coat and white pants, Victor Marte had the green shirt and plaid vest, Jake Westbrook wore white, Tyler Greene was in the red spandex, Lance Berkman was in pink, David Freese had the Dr. Seuss hat, and Matt Carpenter wore the Pee-Wee Herman outfit.

If you’re talking tacky tuxedos, naturally you’re going to see a few guys pull off the “Dumb & Dumber” look. Kyle Lohse (right) and Mitchell Boggs (left) accomplished that:

Mets wore cowboy outfits for their road trip to Houston (Pictures)

The Mets completed a series in Colorado over the weekend and decided to dress up with a Western theme for their flight to Houston. The players wore cowboy outfits, and pitcher R.A. Dickey seemed to have the best time of all. Dressed as a sheriff, he shared the pictures you see above on his Twitter account. On the left he’s with the outlaw Johan Santana, and on the right he’s sticking up catcher Mike Nickeas.

Below are several other players in their cowboy outfits:

St. Louis Cardinals Wearing Turtlenecks for Team Unity

We’ve seen lots of team unity-building exercises before, but I don’t ever recall seeing a team wear turtlenecks before. That hasn’t stopped the St. Louis Cardinals from doing just that.

Jimmy Traina at SI Hot Clicks alerted us the latest fashion move attempted by the St. Louis squad. Apparently the fashion attempt was prompted when Skip Schumacher was wearing a mock turtleneck in San Francisco. Lance Berkman decided it would be fun for the whole team to wear them, so they began shopping around to stock up. When they left Dodger Stadium last weekend to return home to St. Louis all the players were sporting the prophylactic look.

This is the same team that grew mustaches for unity in ’08, so I’d have to say the turtlenecks are a better look. In this video from FOX Sports Midwest you can actually see what it looked like with all the players wearing their neck warmers. Mitchell Boggs had a classic line saying “I’ve never been confused as a man of impeccable style, but today I brought it.” No doubt Charles Barkley would be proud folks, he certainly would.
