Matt Barkley called Vontaze Burfict a “dirty player” last week, prior to Saturday’s game between USC and Arizona State. The Sun Devils won the game 43-22 in Tempe and Bufict exact his revenge on his former high school opponent.
The Arizona State linebacker stepped in front of a slant route to intercept one of Barkley’s passes in the second quarter. Arizona State turned the interception into a touchdown, increasing their lead to 21-6. It was especially important because USC was driving and had a chance to tie the game. The Trojans ended up taking the lead in the third quarter, but two straight lost fumbles in Arizona State territory killed their chances of winning the game.
Barkley may be right that Burfict is a dirty player — he did get flagged for a personal foul in the game — but the interception was a clean play. And it gives me an excuse to post that picture, which is easily the best image of the weekend.Google+
