Hulk Hogan suing Gawker for leaking tape of racist rant

Hulk-Hogan

Hulk Hogan has already been awarded $140 million in damages from Gawker Media after his sex tape went viral, and he is now suing the company again for allegedly leaking something he said while that same series of videos were being recorded.

The New York Post reports that Hogan has filed a new lawsuit against Gawker, this time claiming the media corporation destroyed his career and reputation by leaking sealed court documents to the National Enquirer. Hogan made racist remarks while the sex tape was being filmed and went on a rant about his daughter Brooke dating a black man. The Enquirer published the details of Hulk’s comments, and he was quickly scrubbed from the WWE’s website and later parted ways with the organization.

According to the new lawsuit, the transcript of Hogan’s racist rant was filed under seal because it was part of a pending suit that dealt with the same series of sex tapes. It’s unclear how much Hogan is seeking this time around.

Gawker released a statement on Monday saying the situation with Hogan has gotten “ridiculous.”

“This is getting ridiculous. Hulk Hogan is a litigious celebrity abusing the court system to control his public image and media coverage,” the statement read. “As we’ve said before and are happy to say again: Gawker did not leak the information. It’s time for Hulk Hogan to take responsibility for his own words, because the only person who got Hulk Hogan fired from the WWE is Hulk Hogan.”

Gawker Media previously said it will appeal the first ruling and expects to win.
