Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw sent a clear message on Thursday after undergoing surgery.

Kershaw shared an Instagram message updating fans on his health, revealing that he had surgery on his foot and knee on Wednesday. The three-time Cy Young Award winner said the surgery was a success, and he was planning on being at his best in 2025.

“Planning to crush some rehab and be good as can be come next year,” Kershaw wrote.

Kershaw recently declined a $10 million contract option for 2024, making him a free agent. He has made clear, however, that he will play in 2025 and only wants to suit up for the Dodgers, so a new deal appears to be just a matter of time.

Kershaw was bothered by injuries for much of 2024, and the foot issue ended his season prematurely. Though he turns 37 in March, he was still fairly effective in his seven starts this season, posting a 4.50 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 30 innings. The Dodgers will not want to lean too hard on him going forward, but he certainly looked like he could still contribute.
