Jose Bautista gets standing ovation from Blue Jays fans (Video)
The Blue Jays returned home from Texas for a series against the Rays and what awaited Jose Bautista was an extremely warm welcome.
Bautista was, of course, involved in an incident with Rougned Odor during Sunday’s game against the Rangers in which Bautista was punched in the face by a wicked right hook. After the game, the Blue Jays slugger admitted Odor got him pretty good, but said it takes a bigger man to knock him down.
Bautista was back in comfortable surroundings on Monday and when he came up to bat for the first time, fans at Rogers Centre rose to their feet to give him a standing ovation.
For his epic bat flip against the Rangers during last year’s playoffs, Bautista is public enemy No. 1 in the Arlington area. After receiving his share of jeers and boos over the weekend, it had to feel good to get a nice reception from the home crowd.
