Nationals’ Juan Soto leaves game with apparent leg injury
The Washington Nationals are hoping that one of their key players isn’t seriously injured after leaving Sunday’s game against the New York Mets.
Outfielder Juan Soto appeared to tweak his right ankle or foot as he was rounding third base, potentially turning it. He was initially unable to put weight on it, but seemed to be doing a bit better moments later. Still, he was removed from the game, with no word on his status.

Juan Soto is now walking slowly in the outfield, as shown on TV, and was putting some pressure on his right foot. That’s a positive sign. Looked like a rolled ankle as he was coming around third.

The Nationals are locked in an increasingly tight NL Wild Card race, and they’ve been carrying on without their ace pitcher. Soto, a .289 hitter with 24 home runs and 77 RBIs, is a key part of their lineup. They can’t really afford to be without him for too long.
