The San Diego Padres just went through a bad three-game stretch at home, and their fans let them hear it.

The Padres were shut out 8-0 by the Colorado Rockies at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif. on Wednesday. The shutout victory for Colorado gave the Rockies their first sweep of a series in San Diego of at least three games since 2013.

Following the three-game sweep at the hands of the 15-28 Colorado squad, Padres fans booed their team off the field.

Michael King started for the Padres and allowed 6 runs on 8 hits over 5.1 innings while taking the loss. The pitcher said after the game that he understood why the fans were booing.

“We have some smart fans. They know when they’re seeing bad baseball,” King said.

Getting swept at home by a team that entered the series 12-28 is not good. The Rockies are playing better lately though and have won seven in a row. They also swept the defending World Series-champion Texas Rangers prior to their series with San Diego.

The Padres have mostly hovered around .500 this season. They haven’t been more than two games over .500 yet this season though, and their fans expect much more.
