Watch: Shohei Ohtani hit by pitch on surgically-repaired elbow
The Los Angeles Angels experienced their first scare since Shohei Ohtani made his season debut this week.
Ohtani was activated by the Angels on Tuesday after undergoing Tommy John surgery in October. He went 0-for-4 with a walk and RBI in his season debut. A day later against the Detroit Tigers, Ohtani was hit in the elbow where he had surgery.

Ohtani is heavy on the protective padding, wearing protection on his elbow, hand and leg when he bats. He even runs the bases with a robo-looking brace. He didn’t seem to be bothered by being hit, though he still had another rough day at the plate and punched out a few times in the game, giving him four strikeouts in two games.
Ohtani was AL Rookie of the Year last season and batted .285 with 22 homers and a .925 OPS.
