Doc Rivers has great quote about forgiving Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin

Clippers coach Doc Rivers says that he’s forgiven Blake Griffin, even comparing it to a certain former President.

Griffin broke his hand while punching equipment staffer Matias Testi in an altercation in Toronto. Rivers said that Griffin has expressed remorse over the incident and had resumed speaking to Testi, and then he dropped the rather hilarious comparison.

“He feels awful about it and he’s let everyone know that,” Rivers said of Griffin, via Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times. “That’s all you can do, man. You have to forgive people at some point. I believe that. We built Richard Nixon a library.”

Rivers wasn’t done namedropping former Commanders-in-Chief, either, evoking another when asked if alcohol had been a factor in the fight.

“It depends on what you call ‘alcohol,'” Rivers said. “I feel like Bill Clinton right now. It really does. Did guys have a drink? I’m sure they did. Other than that, I’m going to say, no, alcohol wasn’t involved.”

Sources told Bolch that punishment for Griffin could be handed down as early as next week, though it’s hard to come up with a more severe punishment for his stupidity than the fact that he may miss two months due to the injury sustained during the fight.
