Giannis Antetokounmpo: Warriors got lazy in historic loss to Clippers
The Golden State Warriors set a playoff record by blowing a 31-point lead in Game 2 of their first round playoff series against the LA Clippers on Monday night, and Giannis Antetokounmpo thinks he knows what went wrong.
Antetokounmpo, whose Milwaukee Bucks hold the top seed in the Eastern Conference, said Tuesday that the Warriors got lazy with their big lead and that’s why they blew the game.
Here are the comments via ESPN’s Malika Andrews:
Giannis on whether or not the Clippers’ comeback win over the Warriors served as a reminder for the Bucks: “When you’re lazy, the basketball gods they watch the game and you’re going to pay for it.” Full comments — pic.twitter.com/Re8yQinLjG

He’s probably right. When you’re up by 31 in the third quarter, you probably don’t play as hard as you do when the game is tied. That allowed the Clippers to continue closing the margin, and by the time it was a close game in the fourth quarter, the Clippers had the momentum and surged ahead to take the lead.
The result is the series is now tied 1-1. We’re guessing the Warriors use this as a wake-up call to dominate the rest of the series.
