Joel Embiid fined $25,000 for criticizing referees
Joel Embiid’s little outburst to close his press conference on Tuesday night cost him.
The Philadelphia 76ers star was fined $25,000 by the NBA, the league announced on Wednesday.
Philly lost 112-109 to the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. After his postgame press conference with the media concluded, Embiid grabbed the mic and added that the “referees f—ing sucked”, seemingly out of nowhere.

Embiid was probably upset over the lack of a foul call for an offensive possession in the final minute of the game that he expected to receive. Instead, he lost the ball and the Celtics got it, giving them a big advantage.
