Kevin Durant’s mother sends condolences after Warriors star’s lifelong friend killed
A man who grew up with Kevin Durant and was close lifelong friends with the Golden State Warriors star was shot and killed outside a bar in Atlanta on Thursday.
According to TMZ, Cliff Dixon was partying at SL Lounge in Atlanta early Thursday morning when a lone gunman opened fire in front of the club. The gunman, described as a black male wearing a black skull cap, fled from the scene and remained at large as of Thursday afternoon. Police were unsure if Dixon was targeted in the shooting.
Dixon was lifelong friends with Durant, and he was among the people KD thanked during his NBA MVP acceptance speech back in 2014. Durant’s mother, Wanda, extended her condolences on Twitter and said the Durant family “was an extension of (Dixon’s).”
The Durant family extends our deepest condolences & prayers to Cliff’s mother, siblings, family & friends. Our family was an extension of his & we shared wonderful memories.
