Kevin Durant jokes Warriors ‘ruined it’ with offseason moves
Kevin Durant is very tired of hearing about how the Golden State Warriors ruined the NBA despite teams passing up the chance to make moves to at least make things more difficult for them.
At a Nike press conference in the Philippines on Sunday, Durant joked that the Warriors “ruined it” some more after signing DeMarcus Cousins for the mid-level exception.
“I don’t see how everybody let him fall to us but I guess we ruined it,” Durant said, via Delfin Dioquino of Rappler.
Durant added that he thinks Cousins will provide a much-needed energy boost to a team that has had to play a lot of games in recent years, including a lot of low-stakes regular season contests.
“Last year was just the same, was just repetitive over and over again and we needed an injection of energy and I think DeMarcus is going to provide that for us,” Durant said.
Durant certainly has a point. While they had their reasons in doing so, there were teams that could have used Cousins who simply opted against pursuing him. He fell into Golden State’s lap, and now the rest of the NBA is left red-faced.
