Kyle Lowry admits thumb injury hurts ‘pretty bad’

Kyle Lowry

Kyle Lowry has clearly been playing through a thumb injury during the Eastern Conference Finals, and the Toronto Raptors star admits that it is more than just a minor ailment.

Lowry was seen wincing on a three-point attempt during Game 3 against the Milwaukee Bucks, and reporters asked him on Thursday if his left thumb is feeling any better. Lowry admitted the pain is “pretty bad” and hinted that he may need surgery after the playoffs.

Fortunately for the Raptors, Lowry has been able to play at a high level despite the injury. He scored 25 points, made all 10 of his free throw attempts and shot nearly 43 percent from three-point range in Toronto’s Game 4 win, which evened the series at 2-2.

We knew from the comments Raptors coach Nick Nurse made earlier in the week that Lowry is playing through discomfort, but all he can do is continue to manage it for as long as Toronto remains alive.
